Job Summary

The position involves joint responsibility for the daily coordination of a randomized trial of a peer-adapted, self-compassion and exposure-based intervention for college-aged students experiencing SAD and social isolation, and additional studies in the lab. The primary project is conducted in collaboration with the Renée Crown Wellness Institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. We are looking for a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and committed research assistant with outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong writing and basic statistical analytic or basic computer programming skills are preferred (REDCap, SPSS, and/or Qualtrics), as is experience working with college populations and/or medical populations.

The Arch lab's research focuses on anxiety disorders and exposure-based behavioral interventions, with an emphasis on supporting college students with social anxiety disorder (SAD) and related symptoms.

Work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Recruit, screen, consent/enroll and complete participant activities for one or more studies.
  • Support in recruitment efforts, including flyer distribution, classroom announcements, and campus outreach and online listserve and recruitment platforms, as needed
  • Oversee student/volunteer research assistants and work closely with other professional and graduate student research assistants and researchers, maintaining a cohesive team and positive atmosphere
  • Use REDCap electronic database to prescreen participants via telephone.
  • Communicate study information to research team, which includes study PI (Dr. Arch) and graduate student researchers.
  • Assist in the preparation of research workshops (which take place in the evenings on weekdays), including reserving rooms, ordering food, and compiling study materials.
  • Support graduate student researchers in supporting participants across the study timeline (e.g., reaching out to participants who do not attend workshop or complete surveys).
  • Collaborate in developing, modifying as needed, and implementing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for research protocols. Work closely with other team members to ensure consistent compliance.
  • Attend all necessary research and supervisory meetings; report updates on recruitment status, enrollment numbers and completion statistics.
  • Assist in overseeing and maintaining compensation for study participants, including ensuring timely payment for participants and tracking compensation systematically.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining project collection databases as well as enter and organize all study-related data.
  • Assist in the organization of research data for presentations, papers, and grant applications including potentially assisting in manuscript preparation.
  • Submit amendments, continuing reviews and reportable events to the IRB and other oversight bodies as needed.
  • Research management duties include ordering laboratory supplies, tracking of orders and expenses, scheduling team meetings and maintenance of laboratory equipment and computers.
  • Oversee compliance with university and departmental policies regarding student engagement in research studies (e.g., mentoring frequency, appropriate roles/responsibilities, confidentiality).
  • Oversee student/volunteer research assistants, maintaining a cohesive team and positive atmosphere.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
