Join our Natural Systems and Restoration Bureau

This is a great opportunity to restore priority water bodies for future generations. The Southwest Florida Water Management District (District), a leader in protecting Florida''s water resources, is seeking an Engineer in support of the Surface Water Improvement and Management (SWIM) Program. This position will work on a wide variety of projects related to natural systems restoration and water quality improvements in a planned effort to restore our most valuable natural resources. The successful candidate will perform project management and technical duties including contract management, negotiations, construction administration, hydraulic/hydrologic model review, stormwater retrofit design, plans and specifications review, working with stakeholders, project tracking, preparing budgets, and cost tracking.

The District supports employees who prefer a flexible schedule or a remote work schedule so that they can enjoy their time outside of the District through work-life balance. This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will be required to come on-site and work a portion of their time remotely (must live in Florida). Required Credentials for Engineer

Professional Engineer:

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Four (4) years related work experience
  • Valid Florida Professional Engineer license
  • Valid driver''s license

Senior Professional Engineer:

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) in Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
  • Five (5) years related work experience
  • Valid Florida Professional Engineer license
  • Valid driver''s license

Senior Professional Engineer:

  • Bachelor''s degree (or higher) in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related engineering field
  • Seven (7) years related work experience
  • Valid Florida Professional Engineer license
  • Valid driver''s license
