Pay Rate: $47.00/hour (W-2)
Travel: Up to 10% (domestic)
We are seeking a Facilities Controls Engineer to join the Global Real Estate & Facilities (GREF) team in support of a major site expansion and ongoing facility operations. This role is based at the North Charleston, SC campus and directly supports the 787 Dreamliner program.
You will work hands-on with building automation systems, mechanical and electrical facilities systems, and infrastructure projects. The role combines reactive maintenance support, project oversight, and system optimization to ensure a safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing environment.
Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Building Automation Systems (Client), SCADA systems, and industrial lighting controls (hardware, servers, software, and networking).
Provide engineering support for buildings, infrastructure, equipment installations, and utility systems.
Identify root causes of asset failures using reliability tools (e.g., condition-based maintenance, fault tree analysis, life cycle analysis).
Analyze existing infrastructure and future requirements to recommend capital improvements.
Translate customer and program requirements into design documents, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
Support conceptual design, code compliance, and preliminary planning for building modifications and new construction.
Review contractor proposals and monitor progress on construction projects.
Coordinate with government/regulatory agencies as needed.
Maintain drawing archives and ensure accuracy of as-builts and contractor redlines.
Participate in continuous improvement of site infrastructure and energy efficiency.
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
4+ years of related professional engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education/experience).
2+ years of hands-on experience supporting, troubleshooting, or administering Client, SCADA, or industrial lighting systems.
2+ years of experience in an industrial, manufacturing, or facilities engineering environment.
Must meet U.S. Person definition under 22 C.F.R. §120.15 (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
2+ years working with TRANE, Client, or Johnson Controls Client platforms.
2+ years with nLight or Payne Sparkman control systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam.
Experience with mechanical/electrical system maintenance and troubleshooting.
