The Production Supervisor, reporting to the Production Manager, is responsible for leading and coordinating all activities on the facility’s production lines. This role oversees a team of hourly employees, ensuring safe, high‑quality, and cost‑effective production that aligns with Engelman’s standards.
The ideal candidate is a respected people leader, a natural problem‑solver, and someone with the entrepreneurial mindset needed to navigate unexpected challenges. While routine decisions can be made independently, the supervisor will seek guidance from leadership for non‑routine or complex matters.
Meets production goals while maintaining strict quality standards; ensures all data entered into company systems is accurate and complete.
Builds, develops, and motivates a high‑performing team. Provides supervision, training, coaching, and regular performance feedback.
Collaborates daily with cross‑functional teams. Communicates equipment issues promptly to the maintenance department.
Develops and executes strategies to improve performance across key metrics, including safety and quality.
Audits continuous improvement initiatives for effectiveness and sustainability; leads improvement projects and coaches employees on improvement tools.
Uses data to recommend enhancements to production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
Serves as a safety champion, fostering a culture of “safety first, safety always” through policies, procedures, and accountability.
Ensures compliance with all Engelman’s policies and procedures, including Safety, EEO, Sexual Harassment, and Quality.
Builds trust and engagement by demonstrating urgency, respect, and ownership of business outcomes.
Performs additional duties as assigned that fall within the scope of the role.
Required:
Previous experience in food or beverage manufacturing; minimum 2 years in bakery/production.
Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
Bilingual in English and Spanish.
High school diploma or GED.
Preferred:
Experience in the baking industry.
Working knowledge of Autonomous Maintenance and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals in English.
Ability to write routine quality assurance reports and correspondence in English.
Strong math skills, including working with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
Demonstrated ability to model and reinforce company values.
This role requires regular standing, walking, handling materials, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and verbal communication. Occasional climbing, balancing, tasting, or smelling may be required. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds regularly and more than 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and occasional exposure to wet, hot, or humid conditions. Employees may handle very hot items. Noise levels are typically moderate.
