Overview:

The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading 2nd shift packaging operations within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment at The Marzetti Company’s College Park location. This role provides direct leadership to frontline production associates while driving safety, quality, productivity, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives across the production team. This is a hands-on manufacturing leadership role that requires a strong floor presence, the ability to coach and develop employees, and the ability to drive operational execution in a high-speed production environment.

 

Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday
  • Second-shift availability with flexibility for extended hours and occasional Saturdays
Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Lead daily 2nd shift packaging operations to achieve safety, quality, production, and efficiency targets
  • Supervise approximately 27–28 production associates across multiple packaging lines
  • Oversee packaging formats including bottles, cups, pouches, packets, Cryovac packaging, and other automated packaging systems
  • Monitor production KPIs including throughput, downtime, labor efficiency, waste, and OEE performance
  • Coordinate staffing and labor resources to support production schedules and operational demands
  • Ensure accurate production reporting and shift communication

Safety & Food Quality

  • Promote and enforce a strong culture of safety and food quality throughout the operation
  • Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, sanitation, and food safety requirements
  • Partner with Quality and Maintenance teams to resolve operational issues and minimize downtime
  • Support internal and external audit readiness efforts

Leadership & Team Development

  • Coach, mentor, and develop frontline production employees and team leads
  • Build accountability and maintain strong employee engagement on the production floor
  • Address employee relations concerns and performance issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Lead shift communication meetings and support a positive team-oriented culture
  • Provide hands-on leadership and support during operational challenges

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, efficiency, and waste reduction
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and TPM initiatives including root cause analysis, 5S, standard work, and process improvement activities
  • Participate in problem solving and corrective action efforts to improve operational performance
  • Utilize visual management tools and operational dashboards to monitor performance and drive accountability

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of manufacturing leadership experience required
  • Food manufacturing or high-speed packaging experience strongly preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, coaching, and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience working in fast-paced manufacturing environments
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience preferred
  • Strong floor presence with a hands-on leadership approach
