Feed Mill Operator

Location: Corson, SD 57005
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Duration: 5-Month Contract

Job Overview

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Feed Mill Operator to support feed production operations at our facility in Corson, SD. This is a 5-month contract opportunity with the potential for contract extension or future opportunities based on business needs and performance. The ideal candidate will have experience in manufacturing, agriculture, production, or general labor environments and be comfortable working in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate feed mill equipment including grinders, mixers, batching systems, and pelleting equipment to manufacture livestock feed.
• Receive, handle, and transport feed ingredients and raw materials.
• Load and unload trucks safely and efficiently.
• Prepare and manage product loadout activities, including opening hatches, attaching hoses, collecting samples, and ensuring accurate product delivery.
• Monitor batching and scaling systems and make adjustments as needed to maintain feed quality and production accuracy.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, including inspections, greasing, and minor troubleshooting.
• Identify and report mechanical issues to maintenance personnel.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment through daily housekeeping and spill cleanup.
• Follow all safety, quality, and compliance procedures.
• Collaborate with team members to meet daily production goals and operational targets.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must meet minimum age requirements.
• At least 1 year of experience in one or more of the following:
  • Manufacturing
  • Production
  • Operations
  • Agriculture
  • General labor

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Agriculture or feed production experience.
• Forklift certification.
• Experience operating equipment such as:
  • Loaders
  • Conveyors
  • Tractors
  • Track mobile equipment
• Ability to work extended hours during peak production seasons.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work independently for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces and potentially hazardous environments.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs, and climb ladders throughout the shift.
• Ability to work at heights up to 120 feet.
• Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to shovel, sweep, load, unload, and move materials as needed.
• Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators, hard hats, safety glasses, and hearing protection.
• Ability to work in noisy, dusty, and varying weather conditions.
• Ability to use both automated and manual tools and equipment.
