Viterbo University invites applications for a Production Manager to serve as a key member of the leadership team within the Conservatory for the Performing Arts. This position plays a central role in coordinating the planning, communication, scheduling, and execution of production operations supporting Theatre, Musical Theatre, and Music. This position will collaborate closely with faculty, students, production staff, guest artists, and the Fine Arts Center (FAC) team to support a productive, educational, and artistically successful production environment.

The Production Manager provides leadership for production planning and operations across a range of performances and events, including mainstage productions, concerts, chamber operas, A Viterbo Christmas, and special events such as the Seven Rivers High School Choral Festival. This is a full-time, permanent 12-month exempt position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage production calendars, schedules, deadlines, meetings, and communication across Conservatory productions and events
  • Collaborate with faculty directors, music faculty, designers, stage managers, and FAC personnel to support production planning and execution
  • Manage production budgets in coordination with faculty teams and the Executive Artistic Director; monitor expenditures within established limits
  • Coordinate scheduling, logistics, and communication for guest artists, guest designers, directors, accompanists, and overhire personnel
  • Orient guest artists and collaborators to Viterbo processes, facilities, timelines, and resource expectations
  • Oversee production logistics including rehearsals, technical schedules, event setups, and production timelines
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication among all production stakeholders
  • Supervise student practicum experiences in production management and related operational areas
  • Coordinate and supervise overhire personnel as assigned
  • Partner with technical staff, design faculty, Costume Shop, Music faculty, and FAC staff to support production execution and resource planning
  • Assist with summer organization, maintenance, and production projects in collaboration with the FAC team
  • Ensure adherence to established production procedures and safety practices
  • Foster a collaborative, student-centered, and professional working environment
  • Perform other duties related to Conservatory production operations as assigned
  • Supervise student production crews, practicum students assigned to production management responsibilities, guest artists, and overhire personnel as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Theatre Production, Stage Management, Technical Theatre, Arts Administration, or related field (preferred)
  • Experience in theatre production management, stage management, technical theatre coordination, or related production leadership
  • Demonstrated organizational, scheduling, and project management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple productions, projects, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of theatre production processes and collaborative production environments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supervising or mentoring students
  • Experience working in higher education or educational production settings
