Production Manager

Position Summary:

The Production Manager is responsible for supporting and coordinating production-related activities at the Green Bay, WI manufacturing site. This position provides daily direction and support to production leaders to sustain the safe and efficient operation of the facility. This involves maintaining the cost-effective, quality, and on-time production of granular products to meet customer expectations. These objectives will be achieved by managing the systems, people, equipment, and materials according to established policies and procedures.

Essential Functions:

1.   Responsible for coaching the plant safety leader and guiding the plant safety program to maintain zero injuries.

2.   Responsible for production decisions concerning employee productivity, production scheduling, vendor or supplier relations and other support functions related to product lines.

3.   Sets and maintains the production schedule for each product line to meet established release dates, as well as documenting and improving the production process.

4.   Coordinates inbound and outbound raw material and finished goods shipping including the staging/holding area, rail, and truck deliveries to assure the quality and accuracy of shipments.

5.   Ensures the overall quality of finished product per customer and organizational requirements.

6.   Establish and monitor record keeping systems that track cost and other key production related measures.

7.   Responsible for all production employees, including hiring, training, and managing performance.

8.   Continually reviews job tasks and works to create cost saving measures and/or ideas to improve quality and service.

9.   Makes decisions or works in collaboration with others to maintain quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to reach overall goals and objectives.

10. Researches, drafts, establishes, and conveys processes and procedures in alignment with continuous improvement in all areas of production.

11. Monitors production-related expenses and develops actions to support the budget

12. Reviews the skills and abilities of employees with leaders on a regular basis.

13. Responsible for training production leaders and monitors the training of production support personnel and new production hires.

14. Stays current with new technologies and trends in the bulk processing industry and effectively communicates this to production leaders.

15. Point of contact for external vendors and contractors related to production.

16. Responsible for maintaining the Kadant GranTek brand in the community, with customers, vendors and co-workers.

Qualifications:

To perform this position successfully, an individual must demonstrate regular, predictable attendance and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and skill required. The individual must be able to successfully pass background checks.

Experience/Education/Certification/Licensure:

1.   5+ years of experience in production operations, including managing employees, process implementation, vendor relationships, safety and quality systems.

2.   Bachelor’s/Associate’s degree is preferred in a manufacturing, engineering, or business discipline.
