Job Summary:

Production Maintenance Technician I is responsible for a qualified individual with proven maintenance skills. Responsibilities include efficient maintenance and repair of all extraction, filling, mix-blend, and production equipment. Conducts preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and assisting with other projects as assigned reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs planned, corrective, and unplanned maintenance on specified equipment.
  • Uses available documentation for equipment to troubleshoot and repair equipment.
  • Ensure safety in the workplace by eliminating unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Supports Quality Systems.
  • Protect Company assets by the direct intervention of any condition resulting in the abuse of equipment or buildings.
  • Executes the preventive maintenance program as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
  • Maintains communication (oral and written) within the maintenance team to ensure smooth shift transitions.
  • Other duties, as assigned or required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two or more years related experience in a food grade facility.
  • Ability to understand/apply general mathematical concepts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aseptic processing and high-speed form/fill/seal packaging experience.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as factions and percentages.
  • Knowledge of business software, and manufacturing software (HMIs, PLCs, and manufacturing controls).
  • Self-starter with ability to work in a team-based environment.

Additional Considerations:

  • Location: This role will be at the SunOpta Plant in Allentown, PA.
  • Shift: This position will be a Day (A) shift role, 5:30 am to 6:00 pm on a 2-2-3 pattern. 36 hours one week/48 hours the next week, includes every other weekend. Some flexibility needed.
  • Pay Rate: $36.90/hour.
