Production Coordinator
The Production Coordinator is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating all panel shop production activities to ensure on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery of industrial automation control panels. This role serves as the primary liaison among the PMO, Project Management Office, design, the shop floor, FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), and shipping to ensure a seamless workflow from project release through final delivery. The Production Coordinator drives schedule visibility, resource alignment, and proactive issue resolution to support Vertechs commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions
The Production Coordinator is responsible for the following:
Production Planning & Scheduling
Develop and maintain detailed production schedules for control panel fabrication and assembly.
Coordinate project release timelines with PMO to align design deliverables and material availability.
Balance shop capacity, labor availability, and project priorities.
Adjust schedules dynamically based on scope changes, material delays, or production constraints.
Monitor schedule adherence and escalate risks proactively.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Serve as the central communication hub between PMO, project timelines, milestones, priorities, Design drawing release revisions, BOM updates, Procurement material status, and shortages.
Shop Supervisors labor allocation and workload balancing.
FAT team test scheduling and readiness.
Shipping, Logistics, crating, and outbound scheduling.
Conduct weekly production coordination meetings with stakeholders.
Ensure all departments are aligned on delivery dates and milestone commitments.
Material & Resource Readiness
Confirm material availability prior to production start.
Coordinate with purchasing to identify and mitigate material shortages.
Validate job packets, drawings, BOMs, work instructions are complete before shop release.
Production Tracking & Reporting
Maintain Scheduling system data accuracy, job status, labor tracking, completion milestones.
Provide weekly schedule status updates to PMO and leadership.
Track KPIs such as On-time production starts, On-time FAT completion, On-time shipment, Schedule variance.
Generate production reports for leadership visibility.
FAT Coordination
Coordinate FAT schedules with PMO and customers.
Ensure deficiencies are tracked and resolved prior to shipment.
Coordinate rework schedules if required.
Shipping & Delivery Coordination
Align shipment dates with PMO and customer requirements.
Coordinate panel readiness with crating, packaging, and shipping teams.
Confirm documentation packets are complete, as-builts, test reports, manuals.
Manage priority shipments and expedite requests as needed.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
Identify schedule bottlenecks and implement mitigation strategies.
Participate in process improvement initiatives within the panel shop.
Recommend improvements to workflow, documentation, handoff, and production planning tools.
Support lean manufacturing and operational efficiency efforts.
