As a member of our retread team, you will play a role in recapping, remolding, or in other words, extending the life of an existing tire to get it back on the road!In our retread plants you will have the opportunity to support the retread process through various stages:Inspect the tires to assess if they can be retreadBuff the casing to remove any worn treadRemove embedded objects, rust, and repair the tire casingUsing rubber cement or a patch, repair the casing before applying new treadBuilding the tire by applying new treadCuring the tire to mold the retread applicationFinal Inspection to assess a safe and quality product Want to see the process? Looking back, the founding of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in 1898 seems especially remarkable, for the beginning was anything but auspicious. The 38-year-old founder, Frank A. Seiberling, purchased the company's first plant with a $3,500 down payment -- using money he borrowed from a brother-in-law Lucius C. Miles. The rubber and cotton that were the lifeblood of the industry had to be transported from halfway around the world, to a landlocked town that had only limited rail transportation.
