Job Title: Electrician (contract to hire role)

Position Summary
Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a skilled and safety-focused Electrician to support the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of electrical systems within a regulated manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical equipment and facility systems that support manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, and utility operations. The Electrician will ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements while supporting Thermo Fisher Scientific's mission of enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.
Key Responsibilities
• Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and controls throughout the manufacturing facility.
• Support production equipment, utility systems, HVAC equipment, cleanroom infrastructure, and facility support systems.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities on electrical equipment to maximize uptime and reliability.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical issues involving motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor control centers (MCCs), transformers, panels, lighting systems, and power distribution equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
• Support equipment installations, facility upgrades, and capital improvement projects.
• Work with automation, instrumentation, and controls personnel to troubleshoot integrated systems.
• Conduct inspections and testing of electrical systems to ensure compliance with applicable codes, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and facility emergencies in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Participate in root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) as required.
• Support energy efficiency and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow all Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and quality system requirements.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program or equivalent technical training.
• Valid Connecticut E-1 Unlimited Electrical Journeyperson License required.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, or other regulated industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, and electrical safety standards.
• Experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing industrial electrical systems up to 480V.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
• Experience performing preventive and corrective maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work safely and effectively while adhering to Thermo Fisher Scientific Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), and quality requirements.
• Proficiency with electrical testing equipment, including multimeters, megohmmeters, and other diagnostic tools.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, medical device, or FDA-regulated manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with GMP, GDP, and quality management systems.
• Experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial automation equipment.
• Knowledge of cleanroom operations and critical utility systems.
• OSHA 10-hour or OSHA 30-hour certification.
• Experience using CMMS software such as Maximo, SAP PM, or equivalent maintenance systems.

Working Conditions
