Job Description:
Assembles, disassembles and/or modifies systems by changing, removing, replacing or upgrading aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes. Oversees assembly, disassembly or overhaul. Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment. Troubleshoots complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components. Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components. Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results). Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements. Oversees training. Works under general direction.
Position Responsibilities:

Oversees assembly, disassembly or overhaul.
Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.
Troubleshoots complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.
Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components.
Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results).
Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements.

Works under general direction.
General Mechanic:
Performs end-of-runway, postflight, preflight, thru-flight, and phase inspections.
Performs coordinated combat turns and hot pit refuels.
Advises on problems maintaining, servicing, and inspecting aircraft and related aerospace equipment.
Uses technical data to diagnose and address maintenance problems on aircraft systems.
Interprets and advises on maintenance procedures and policies to repair aircraft and related equipment.
Solves problems and maintains aircraft structures, systems, components, and related equipment.
Removes and installs aircraft components.
Conducts functional tests of repaired components and systems.
Adjusts, aligns, and rigs aircraft systems.
Supervises and performs aircraft jacking, lifting, and towing operations.
Performs aircraft and component operational checks.
Interprets inspection findings and resolves adequacy of corrective actions.
Inspects and checks components for clearances, tolerances, proper installation, and operation.
Inspects and operates powered and non-powered aerospace ground equipment.
Inspects and identifies aircraft corrosion for prevention and repair.
Reviews maintenance forms, aircraft records, automated maintenance data systems, and historical reports to ensure complete documentation.
Inventories and maintains aircraft equipment.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Minimum of 5 years of experience in military fighter aircraft maintenance
Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds
Minimum of 1 year of experience in reading and interpreting technical publications and/or maintenance manuals
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Must be able to work outdoors under all types of weather conditions (Humidity/High temperatures) with exposure to loud noise and exhaust fumes
F-18 (AM or AD) Qualifications
Prior experience with Navy 4790.2 requirements, is preferred Applicable and appropriate educational/certification credentials from an accredited institution and/or equivalent experience is required.
