A Brief Overview
The Product Manager for Web/AEM Solutions is responsible for defining product features, holding platform standards, and ensuring that every experience delivered on our website system-whether uniform or tailored-meets institutional quality, compliance, and design-system expectations.
The role is accountable for the ongoing stewardship of how content and features are produced, maintained, and governed within Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). The Product Manager ensures that both repeatable (uniform) work and audience-specific (tailored) work follow established system patterns, component standards, and governance frameworks-intervening when work drifts, and evolving standards when the system must grow.
This role ensures that what we build and what we maintain on our website system meets the same standard-structurally sound, compliant, efficient, and true to the design system-whether it's a repeatable template or a tailored experience. It serves as the accountable steward of how work is delivered within the website system, concentrating on skill areas including product requirements definition, technical communication, compliance and data privacy application, and system stewardship.
The ideal candidate brings a strong background in AEM platform management with hands on experience, a deep understanding of design systems and component-based architecture, and experience holding governance standards across distributed teams. This is a role for someone who sees stewardship as equally important as innovation-who can balance technical feasibility, user-centric design, and institutional discipline to ensure our website system remains coherent, compliant, and scalable as both uniform and tailored work continue to grow.
Improves the digital presence and discoverability of content on all web properties. Provides actionable and strategic insights to empower Marketing and stakeholder teams to make informed, strategic marketing and business decisions for all web entities for Stanford Health Care.

System Standards and Governance:
Serves as the accountable owner of the design system, component library, and delivery standards. Holds the design system, component library, and governance standards in place across all work-whether uniform (defined templates and patterns delivered at scale) or tailored (customized experiences built for specific audiences or campaigns).
Ensures that all work entering production (uniform templates, tailored builds, campaign pages, service-line expansions) adheres to defined patterns or receives intentional, documented exceptions.
Responsible for ensuring that digital production follows system standards, that deviations are intentional and documented, and that delivery remains efficient regardless of the work type.
Develops, maintains, and evolves governance documentation and component usage guidelines for the AEM platform, ensuring consistency and scalability across all web properties.
Conducts regular audits of web properties to ensure adherence to design system standards and identifies areas requiring remediation or system evolution.
Technical Communication:
Bridges the gap between engineering, content, design, and marketing teams with clear articulation of what the system allows, what it requires, and where opportunities exist for improvement.
Articulates system constraints, opportunities, and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical partners, ensuring informed decision-making at all levels.
Meets regularly with internal stakeholders, e.g., Marketing Strategy Team, content teams, and engineering partners, to communicate platform capabilities, limitations, and roadmap priorities. Sets stakeholder expectations and executes on deadline and within budget.
Leads the effort for various levels of approval from subject matter experts and business stakeholders for design/tech user stories, ensuring technical feasibility is communicated clearly throughout the approval process.
Compliance and Data Privacy Application:
Embeds regulatory, accessibility, and privacy requirements into product decisions and production workflows-not as a post-launch audit, but as a pre-production standard.
Ensures every digital experience meets regulatory, accessibility (ADA/WCAG), and institutional standards as it goes live-not after. Develops and maintains compliance checklists and gates within the production workflow.
Partners with legal, privacy, and compliance teams to stay current on evolving regulations and translates requirements into actionable platform standards and production criteria.
Integrates accessibility and compliance testing into the product development lifecycle, ensuring all new and maintained experiences meet or exceed institutional standards.
Delivery Efficiency Across Work Types:
Optimizes how both uniform and tailored work moves through the system-ensuring that repeatable work stays fast and consistent, and that tailored work is scoped, built, and delivered without undermining system integrity.
Responsible for end-to-end final delivery of new features/enhancements on websites through active participation in agile product development driven by IT including daily standup meetings, retrospectives, and planning sessions.
Works with the technical development (programming and QA) staff from the IT department to ensure that changes are developed and any questions arising from the developers are answered in a timely and accurate manner. Monitors project progress, resolves problems, prepares and distributes reports on project velocity.
Recommends socialization/communication plan once new feature/development is complete.
Creates and delivers optimal user experience by building out experiences within AEM system in collaboration with digital designer (if needed) and internal digital team members. Integrates testing, usability studies, research, and market analysis into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction.
