Description

Role Summary

This role is responsible for managing third-party technology assets across one or more portfolios, including software licensing, financial management, commercial agreements, business case development, and product lifecycle management. The Product Specialist serves as the business owner for assigned products, managing relationships with vendors and commercial partners while ensuring the successful adoption, utilization, and ongoing value of commercialized solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate technologies by conducting market research, analyzing competitive landscapes and industry trends, and performing quantitative assessments to identify growth opportunities and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Define Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) and establish key performance metrics and success criteria to measure product effectiveness.
  • Contribute to product roadmaps, oversee feature rollout strategies, and monitor progress against internal and vendor-driven milestones.
  • Develop and execute strategies to scale products while ensuring operational stability, efficiency, and long-term success.
  • Create go-to-market strategies for assigned products, represent product demand and strategy during commercial negotiations with Procurement, and manage post-launch customer success initiatives in partnership with vendors.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for product licensing, entitlement management, and product use rights, maintaining a thorough understanding of product usage, Systems of Record (SOR), and Software Asset Configuration Management controls.
  • Lead product lifecycle planning, including roadmap development, product classification, strategic adoption initiatives, retirement of non-strategic products, and version currency management.
  • Understand customer business objectives and requirements, assess the value customers derive from products, and align product capabilities to business needs and desired outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and internal teams to drive product success and maximize business value.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience managing third-party software products, technology assets, or vendor relationships.
  • Knowledge of software licensing, contract management, and software asset management principles.
  • Strong analytical and business case development skills.
  • Experience with product strategy, product lifecycle management, and roadmap planning.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into product capabilities and solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Procurement, Vendor Management, or Technology Asset Management teams.
  • Background in product management, technology strategy, or software portfolio management.
  • Familiarity with software asset management tools, systems of record, and governance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale technology environments.
