Role Description:

About Us:

At Booking.com, data drives our decisions. Technology is at our core. And innovation is everywhere. But our company is more than datasets, lines of code or A/B tests. We’re the thrill of the first night in a new place. The excitement of the next morning. The friends you encounter. The journeys you take. The sights you see. And the memories you make. Through our products, partners and people, we make it easier for everyone to experience the world. Booking.com (USA), Inc, one of the support companies in the United States, is seeking a full time Product Manager BDX IAM in our Washington, DC office.

About the team

Our Data and Machine Learning Platform develops platform products that deal with big data, analytics, AI and machine learning. These products are delivered to our internal customers and are at the core of our strategic decisions. The Data Foundations team builds foundational data & AI capabilities (Lineage, Discovery, Storage, IAM, Compute, Privacy) that power both enterprise wide needs across OLTP and OLAP platforms / systems, while also serving platform specific needs of the central B.com wide enterprise data & AI platform.

What You'll Be Doing:

As a Technical Product Manager, you set the product strategy, evolution and further adoption of the access management platform for B.com’s 100 PB+ multi-modal data & AI platform, and its integration with various governance tooling like the enterprise policy platform.

We’re looking for a Technical Platform Product Manager to build enterprise-wide Data & AI governance capabilities that make it easy for teams to ship and use data/AI safely, without slowing them down. You’ll own a well-defined product area, partner tightly with engineering and architecture, and drive measurable adoption and product pull.

This is a hands-on technical platform PM role: you’ll translate complex governance requirements into shipped product outcomes, validate value through prototyping/experiments, and ensure the product becomes the default path for real user workflows

The IAM platform product team provides identity and access management for multi-modal analytical data for traditional and agentic consumption pathways, ensuring the right people and services (and agents) have the right access at the right time while minimizing friction for data producers and consumers across the BDX platform. We operate the control plane for human and service access, automating identity and access provisioning for workflows and services across Snowflake and S3, enforcing fine‑grained policies, and delivering platform‑level guardrails that support Booking.com’s data governance and compliance programs (SOx, DMA, privacy regulations, and Traveler Privacy). Our work underpins key initiatives such as Bring Your Own Compute (BYOC), S3 Access Grants, and new consent and privacy controls, enabling business units to innovate on governed data while keeping access secure, auditable, and compliant.

The role would require balancing value elements for the both user segments - the data & AI practitioners of the business as well as the compliance / control / legal functions. You would be passionate about identifying opportunities for your product(s), be deeply passionate about the compliance challenges around multi-modal data processing the enterprise and our users face today, understand how AI systems available at our disposal today can help bridge a lot of the these gaps, delighting our platform users by addressing the most pressing access issues - across the disparate multi-modal data processing pathways enterprise wide.

The role would require familiarity with distributed policy enforcement and access management systems, a deep and wide understanding of how data gets captured across various funnels enterprise wide and how and in what context the same gets processed as it moves through systems / platforms enterprise wide.

  • User-focused individual who keeps the customer at the heart of everything they do, while having strong commercial awareness.

  • Data-driven. Base your decisions on facts rather than opinions.

  • A go-getter who isn’t afraid to roll up sleeves and dives into a project to achieve success by problem solving.

  • Passionate about data & machine learning and building a platform that can be leveraged by the whole company. Constantly looking for ways to improve and streamline the capabilities.

  • Open-minded team player with excellent communication skills.

  • Agile and innovative with the tenacity to thrive in a constantly changing environment.

  • Self-motivated and results-driven with a take charge attitude to manage the full development cycle of a product.

  • Friendly, knowledgeable, and motivational to others. Open to diversity in all shapes and sizes.

Product Strategy & Product Market Fit (PMF)

  • Own PMF for a platform area: define the problem, target personas, and success metrics; validate value via prototypes/experiments.

  • Build and maintain an outcomes-driven roadmap aligned to industry best practices and internal constraints.

  • Identify and retire workarounds by making the paved road faster, safer, and easier.

Production Execution

  • Own end-to-end delivery: take priority calls of product development/enhancements/defects with user experience at the core; ship safely with rollout and migration plans.

  • Partner with engineering and architects to embed governance into developer workflows (DataOps/MLOps) with minimal friction.

  • Drive operational readiness (instrumentation, reliability, documentation) for what you ship.

Production Adoption & influence

  • Drive adoption : documentation, demos, office hours, training, and support models.

  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders: decisions, tradeoffs, outcomes, and next bets.

What You'll Bring:

  • 6–8 years in Technical Product Management (or equivalent), ideally with 3+ years, building data & AI governance products for a combination of tech and non-tech personas.

  • Experienced with distributed data & AI Platforms, including wide and deep understanding of various distributed data processing and AI processing capabilities.

  • Familiar with data processing in production, at scale. Understanding of batch and stream processing, as well as native cloud solutions powering such pathways.

  • Hands-on experience with distributed data & AI systems and understanding of how various data and AI personas across businesses engage with such platforms to consume and produce multi-modal data for analytical and ML/AI use cases

  • Demonstrated ability to drive adoption: can define KPIs, instrument funnels (conversion, drop off / churn), and iterate based on evidence.

  • Strong technical fluency: comfortable with distributed data & AI systems, APIs, integration patterns, typical Data & MLOps journeys, to be able to make informed tradeoffs decisions, feeding product strategy and execution.

  • Experience partnering deeply with engineering and architecture; can write crisp requirements and make tradeoffs.

  • Working knowledge of data governance concepts applicable to distributed and open data & AI systems (e.g., industry best practices around sensitive data handling, access controls, retention/DSR fundamentals)
