The Product Line Manager (PLM) is responsible for the overall product strategy, performance, and lifecycle management of instrumentation product lines across United Electronic Industries (UEI) and VTI Instruments (VTI). This role owns product-level P&L and drives growth through strategic planning, market insight, and successful new product development and commercialization.

The PLM partners cross-functionally with Engineering, Sales, Operations, and Marketing to define product roadmaps, deliver differentiated solutions, and expand market share across key applications and industries.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the full product lifecycle, including P&L performance, growth strategy, and portfolio optimization across UEI and VTI instrumentation lines.
  • Define and execute data-driven product roadmaps aligned with business objectives and market opportunities.
  • Define program scope, timelines, milestones, and resource requirements; track progress and proactively manage risks, dependencies, and issues.
  • Establish and maintain program governance, including stage-gate reviews, status reporting, and executive updates.
  • Lead strategic planning initiatives incorporating voice of customer (VOC), competitive intelligence, and industry trends.
  • Drive new product development (NPD) from concept through launch, ensuring technical feasibility and financial viability.
  • Author and lead key NPD deliverables, including Concept Approvals (CA) and Marketing Requirements Documents (MRDs).
  • Develop business cases including market analysis, ROI, and multi-year forecasts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers and partners to gather VOC insights.
  • Identify growth opportunities in target applications, industries, and adjacent markets.
  • Partner with Sales to support customer engagements, solution development, and strategic opportunities.
  • Drive cross-functional execution across Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Marketing to ensure alignment and accountability throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Define and execute go-to-market strategies for new and existing products.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to develop product messaging, application content, and sales enablement tools.
  • Support product launches including training, collateral development, and demand generation activities.
  • Partner with Engineering to define product specifications and ensure successful execution of design and development.
  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, and Finance to align pricing, forecasting, and profitability goals.
  • Ensure effective communication of project status, key decisions, and risks to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate and prioritize custom or modified product requests based on technical feasibility and return on investment.
  • Analyze pricing, margins, and competitive positioning; recommend pricing strategies and adjustments.
  • Continuously assess product performance and lifecycle status, driving improvement or rationalization as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 7+ years of experience in product management, technical marketing, or application engineering (instrumentation or similar technical products preferred).
  • Ability to travel 25-30%.
  • Due to the nature of UEI and VTI's programs and products, applicants must have the legal right to work in the U.S. and additionally must be legally authorized to access export-controlled information and source code.

Desired Qualifications:

  • MBA or advanced degree with a focus on business or marketing.
  • Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, or automated test equipment (ATE) markets.
  • Background in engineering design or product development.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to translate data into action.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience creating technical and marketing content.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority and operate effectively in a leadership role.
  • Self-directed with strong prioritization and execution skills.
