Product Engineer - Mandarin

About this role

We are looking for a Product Engineer with 2+ years of experience to join our fast-moving consumer social startup. You should be a product-centric, AI-native engineer who cares deeply about user experience, moves fast, and uses AI as a core part of how you build. 

You will be a key player in shipping new product features for our AI-powered platform where users create and play interactive mini-apps and games — think TikTok, but every piece of content is a playable experience.

What will you be doing?

• Build and ship product features end-to-end, with a focus on new feature development across our Next.js and Python stack
• Debug and fix production issues quickly, with strong judgment around user impact and prioritization
• Partner closely with Product to turn ideas into shipped experiences and contribute to product direction and UX decisions
• Use AI aggressively in day-to-day development, debugging, prototyping, and iteration — 90%+ AI-assisted coding is the norm here
• Move quickly across the full stack to improve product quality, speed, and usability

Seniority

2 - 8 years of experience in product-focused full-stack engineering.

Work experience

Experience shipping features end-to-end that have reached real users.

Experience at VC-backed startup OR big tech company.

Founding engineer or early employee (top 10) at a YC/a16z-backed startup.

Consumer product or mobile-first product experience.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Hard skills

Extensive use of AI coding tools – 90%+ of code generated via Claude Code, Cursor, etc.

Strong proficiency with Next.js and Python.

Soft skills

Product mindset — proactively asks why features are being built; thinks about UX, not just specs.

Miscellaneous

Native or native-level Mandarin proficiency.

Must be able to work remotely in Pacific Standard Time, with a Sunday evening standup.
