This is a highly visible, customer‑facing role where your technical judgment directly influences tool performance, product roadmaps, and time‑to‑solution in the fab.You will join the Etch Product Group and partner with Field, R&D, Process, Hardware, and Program teams to translate real customer needs into measurable product improvements.What You'll DoOwn customer escalations end‑to‑end—rapidly diagnosing issues, driving root‑cause analysis, and delivering containment and corrective actions that improve uptime, yield, and product quality.Lead product development from concept through prototype, release, and initial field adoption—ensuring solutions are manufacturable, supportable, and ready for high‑volume fabs.Design and execute experiments (DOE), tests, and prototypes to resolve complex technical problems; turn data into clear recommendations and design changes.Communicate complex findings with clarity—building alignment across engineering, operations, and customer stakeholders through concise analyses and executive‑ready summaries.Collaborate across functions and cultures to define requirements, write specifications, and drive decisions that balance performance, reliability, cost, and schedule.Provide expert technical support for installation and complex troubleshooting; coach others and strengthen playbooks so teams scale faster over time.Build trusted customer relationships through on‑site engagement and international travel—partnering on near‑term releases and influencing the roadmap with a strong voice of the customer.Work hands‑on in cleanroom labs and customer fabs, applying rigorous safety and contamination‑control practices while moving quickly in high‑stakes environments.Why this role (and why now)Make visible, measurable impact: your work will directly improve tool performance at leading‑edge fabs and shape future product releases.Operate with ownership and autonomy: you'll drive problems from ambiguity to closure, partnering across Field, R&D, and Operations.Grow your technical and leadership scope: expand from deep technical problem‑solving into influencing roadmaps, mentoring, and leading cross‑functional programs.Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree in Material Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience; or a PhD with 5+ years' experience; or equivalent experience.Exceptional analytical and experimental design skills.Creative thinking, problem solving, and troubleshooting capabilities.Exceptional clear communication and presentation skills.Comfortable traveling up to 25% of the time.All new hires are expected to be hands‑on in the lab as part of their day‑to‑day responsibilities.Preferred QualificationsPrior product design and technical engineer experience is beneficial.Experience designing, specifying, building, operating, and maintaining semiconductor, automotive, aerospace, or related hardware, tools, and equipment.Experience leading cross‑functional teams.Our commitmentWe believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
