About the Role

We are seeking a mid‑level Product Development Engineer / Project Manager to support and lead product development initiatives from concept through launch, while managing cross‑functional project activities that ensure on‑time and high‑quality delivery.

This hybrid role is ideal for a self‑driven, technically strong engineer who enjoys combining hands‑on development work with structured project management responsibilities. You will collaborate daily with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and Quality to move products and initiatives forward.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development

  • Lead or support product development activities across concept generation, prototyping, testing, and design refinement.
  • Create and maintain 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and product specifications.
  • Conduct engineering analyses (tolerance stack-ups, material selection, basic FEA, DFM reviews, etc.).
  • Plan and execute validation activities including test procedures, performance testing, and data analysis.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering to optimize designs for cost, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation: BOMs, ECOs, requirements, test reports, risk assessments, and user specifications.
  • Participate in stage‑gate or Agile product development ceremonies (design reviews, sprint planning, etc.).
  • Engage suppliers on component feasibility, material options, cost estimates, and design improvements.
  • Troubleshoot product performance issues and contribute to root-cause analysis and corrective action plans.
  • Support lifecycle management of existing products, including enhancements, cost reductions, and quality improvements.

Project Management

  • Lead mid-size cross‑functional projects or project workstreams from planning through delivery.
  • Create and maintain detailed project schedules, timelines, Gantt charts, and milestone plans.
  • Identify and track project risks, issues, and dependencies; develop mitigation and contingency plans.
  • Facilitate project meetings, drive action items, maintain logs, and ensure follow-through from stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver clear project updates, dashboards, and status reports to leadership and teams.
  • Track project budgets, spend, and resource requirements; escalate variances when needed.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and other functions to maintain project alignment.
  • Support change management activities, including documentation, version control, and stakeholder impacts.
  • Identify process gaps and contribute to improvements in project workflows, documentation, or tools.
  • Ensure adherence to internal standards, compliance requirements, and best practices for project execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Product Development, or related field.
  • 3–5+ years of experience in product development, engineering, or technical project management.
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD software
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams or leading technical initiatives.
  • Strong communicator with solid organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a structured product development process
  • Exposure to PLM and/or project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, or Asana.
  • PMP is a plus
  • Background in manufacturing
