Position Overview

The Temporary Product Development Engineer will provide technical leadership and support throughout the development, testing, validation, and launch of the LycoLok product line. This role will focus on ensuring design robustness, compliance with applicable standards, and successful integration into HGUS manufacturing and commercial operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Development & Design Support

· Provide expert guidance on product design, functionality, and manufacturability

· Support design reviews and recommend improvements aligned to performance and cost targets

· Assist in resolving technical challenges during development

2. Testing & Validation

· Ensure alignment with internal and external design and testing specifications

· Support development of test plans and validation protocols

· Review test results and provide recommendations for design adjustments

3. Engineering Change & Technical Direction

· Identify and guide necessary design changes to meet quality, reliability, and compliance requirements

· Support engineering change processes and documentation

· Provide technical direction to internal engineering resources

4. Integration & Launch Support

· Assist with transitioning the product from development to production

· Support manufacturing readiness, including design for manufacturability and assembly

· Collaborate on launch readiness activities to ensure successful market introduction

5. Cross-Functional Coordination

· Work closely with engineering, operations, product management, and leadership teams

· Coordinate efforts with existing engineers and managers across HGUS

· Provide clear communication of risks, issues, and recommended actions

Scope of Work

· Focus exclusively on the LycoLok product line development and launch

· Activities limited to:

o Product development and refinement

o Testing and validation support

o Design change recommendations

o Production integration and launch readiness

· Engagement includes remote work with periodic on-site support as needed

· Weekly commitment: 8–20 hours, based on program needs

· Testing/validation input and technical assessments

· Documented change recommendations

· Launch readiness support (engineering input)

· Ongoing technical guidance to HGUS engineering team

Qualifications & Expertise

· Strong background in product development and engineering design

· Experience with testing standards, validation methods, and product qualification

· Knowledge of manufacturing processes and product integration

· Proven ability to influence design decisions and guide engineering teams

· Effective communicator with cross-functional leadership capability

· LycoLok product meets performance, quality, and compliance requirements

· Design issues identified early and resolved efficiently

· Smooth transition from development into production

· On-time and successful product launch

· Effective collaboration with internal HGUS teams

Working Relationship

· Direct reporting to Lehmann, Todd

· Close coordination with:

o Product Engineering

o Operations & Manufacturing

o Product Management

o Quality & Testing teams

Engagement Terms

· Part-time contract: 8–20 hours/week

· Combination of remote and on-site support

· Engagement concludes upon successful LycoLok product launch completion
