Procurement Specialist 

Location: Waynesboro, VA
Work Schedule: Onsite (Monday–Friday)
Employment Type: Contract to hire
Salary Range: 32/hr-40/hr 

Position Overview

A growing manufacturing organization is seeking a Procurement Specialist to support purchasing activities for electronic components, production materials, and supplier relationships. This role will be responsible for managing the procurement process from sourcing through delivery, maintaining purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, and partnering closely with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Production teams.

The ideal candidate will have experience purchasing electronic components within a manufacturing environment and be comfortable managing supplier relationships, resolving material shortages, and supporting inventory planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Source and procure electronic components, parts, and materials based on engineering specifications and production requirements
  • Manage the full purchase order lifecycle, including PO creation, tracking, delivery confirmation, and issue resolution
  • Partner with suppliers to negotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and delivery schedules
  • Monitor supplier performance and proactively address delays, shortages, and supply chain risks
  • Review supplier quotes and support supplier qualification and evaluation activities
  • Maintain accurate purchasing records and resolve discrepancies related to pricing, quantities, and delivery dates
  • Collaborate with Engineering teams regarding part specifications, approved manufacturer lists, and alternate component options
  • Support inventory planning efforts to minimize shortages while avoiding excess inventory
  • Assist with sourcing strategies for long-lead-time and allocation-constrained electronic components
  • Maintain compliance with company quality standards and purchasing procedures

Required Qualifications

  • 2-4+ years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience sourcing electronic components
  • Experience managing purchase orders from creation through delivery
  • Strong supplier communication and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, NetSuite, Epicor, Oracle, or similar platforms
  • Ability to interpret basic Bills of Materials (BOMs) and component specifications/datasheets
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing, aerospace, defense, medical device, or contract manufacturing environments
  • Experience working within a formal Quality Management System (ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar)
  • Experience managing component shortages, supplier constraints, and long-lead-time materials
  • Background supporting engineering and production teams with component sourcing decisions
