JOB SUMMARY The Procurement Specialist I is responsible for supporting the sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management activities within the Supply Chain Department. This role involves source selection, RFQ creation, supplier certification requests, purchase order creation (under $30K), and monitoring supplier acknowledgements and delivery status. The specialist will assist senior buyers with documentation, track past-due purchase orders, troubleshoot supplier invoices, and participate in supplier visits and program reviews. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain compliance with company policies and industry standards. Key Responsibilities Source, negotiate, and purchase machinery, equipment, tools, packaging materials, parts, services, and supplies Compile and analyze statistical data to establish price objectives and feasibility of purchases Monitor supplier performance and track acknowledgements, delivery status, and past-due orders Create RFQs, RFPs, and bid packages; request certifications from suppliers Prepare purchase orders under $30K and assist senior buyers with documentation Troubleshoot supplier invoices to resolve payment issues Participate in supplier visits and assist in developing agendas for program reviews Track data to stay informed on price trends and market dynamics Negotiate with suppliers (with manager/senior lead pre-approval) to ensure lowest cost consistent with quality and reliability Maintain accurate records and ensure SAP updates for data accuracy Maintain the highest ethical standards in all procurement activities Support other projects and initiatives as assigned Minimum Requirements Education Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or procurement or related field AND 0 years of directly related government, industrial, or aerospace purchasing/subcontracting experience OR Associate degree AND minimum of 4 years of directly related experience OR High School Diploma/equivalent AND minimum of 8 years of directly related experience Experience Background in government, industrial, or aerospace procurement/subcontracting Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications Ability to present financial information clearly and succinctly Skills & Qualifications Strong communication skills with ability to interface effectively with suppliers and internal customers Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive and proprietary information Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work weekends, other shifts, and overtime as required Some travel may be required Must be able to pass background investigation and obtain public trust position (if required) Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance.
