About the Position

This position is an advanced level of professional procurement work, responsible for managing all phases of the purchasing process while maintaining accurate information used to analyze and report on current market pricing. Key responsibilities include researching and evaluating current market prices and trends to support informed purchasing decisions; work with limited supervision and is expected to exercise sound judgment and attention to detail. The role requires adherence to MDES, state, and federal procurement policies and procedures for the acquisition of commodities and services. All applicants must possess a valid driver's license, as occasional travel may be required, and must successfully pass an extensive background check.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and 2-4 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications: Bachelors Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 2 - years of experience in a directly related field. Certified MS Purchasing Agent or Certified MS Fleet Manager preferred.

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave

Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
