Vitamin Well entered the US market in 2019 and launched Barebells in 2020. Since then, we have grown rapidly and are now the no1 protein bar in the US.

Global operations and product development is based at our headquarters in Stockholm, and to support continued growth in the US, we are now looking for an experienced Procurement Manager to join us locally.

About the role 

The Procurement Manager leads all strategic and operational sourcing activities across ingredients, packaging, raw materials, co-manufacturing services, and capital equipment. This role is critical to ensuring supply continuity, cost competitiveness, and strong supplier performance in a dynamic and fast-paced business environment.

This role will partner cross-functionally with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, R&D, and Finance to support business needs, manage cost of goods, and drive long-term commercial success.

This is a hands-on leadership role suited for someone who can both execute day-to-day procurement activities and build scalable procurement processes in a growing organization.

This role is expected to be based in the southeastern US to stay close to key suppliers and external partners.


Key responsibilities

Strategic Sourcing & Category Management

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies across ingredients, commodities (proteins, chocolate, oils, sweeteners, nuts), packaging, and indirect spend

  • Analyze commodity markets, supplier dynamics, and cost drivers to inform business decisions

  • Lead RFPs, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and contract execution

  • Establish multi-source strategies to mitigate risk and ensure supply continuity

  • Forecast supply risks and market trends to support planning and budgeting

Operational Procurement

  • Ensure availability of materials in line with business and customer demand

  • Proactively manage shortages, quality issues, and supply disruptions

  • Maintain accurate ERP data including pricing, contracts, and supplier records

  • Partner with Supply Chain Planning to align procurement with inventory and demand needs

  • Support sourcing, vendor selection, and contract negotiation for strategic investments

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers

  • Conduct regular business reviews and performance evaluations

  • Drive improvements in cost, quality, service, and innovation

  • Lead resolution of supplier issues, escalations, and contract disputes

Financial & Commercial Ownership

  • Deliver measurable cost savings through negotiation and sourcing strategies

  • Partner with Finance on cost modeling, forecasting, and margin analysis

  • Evaluate cost impacts of new products, reformulations, and business changes

  • Support strategies such as VMI, consignment, and supplier optimization

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with R&D on ingredient sourcing and product development

  • Align with Operations and Supply Chain on demand needs and efficiencies

  • Work with Quality to ensure supplier compliance with food safety and regulatory standards

  • Support product launches and supply transitions

Team Leadership (as applicable)

  • Lead and develop buyers or procurement specialists (based on team structure)

  • Help build scalable procurement processes and team capabilities

  • Foster a results-driven, accountable, and collaborative culture

Who are you

You have solid hands-on experience in procurement within manufacturing, CPG, food, or ingredient-based industries.

You are comfortable managing suppliers and sourcing materials in a production environment, with a strong understanding of how procurement impacts operations.

You combine strong analytical skills with a commercial mindset, and are confident working with cost structures, negotiations, and contracts.

You are used to working cross-functionally and know how to build strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external partners.

You take ownership of your area, drive initiatives forward, and are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

What you will need to succeed:
  • 5+ years of procurement experience in manufacturing, CPG, food, or ingredient-based industries

  • Strong negotiation and contract management experience

  • Experience managing suppliers and sourcing materials in a production environment

  • Ability to analyze data, cost structures, and market trends

  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Excel

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, or related field

  • Experience sourcing ingredients, commodities, or packaging materials

  • Experience in food, nutrition, or regulated manufacturing environments

  • Exposure to co-manufacturing and external production partners

  • Experience in high-growth or startup environments
