Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Procurement Director - II (Associate) to join our pharmaceutical client in Rahway, NJ. This is a 23-month contract to start with the potential for extensions. 


Pay:$77.00 - $87.00/hr; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.


Description:
This position is part of the Animal Health Global Supplier Management (AH-GSM) organization. Reporting to the Director, Global Indirect Procurement, this role serves as a strategic business partner responsible for driving a multi-year portfolio of procurement optimization and transformation initiatives that support business growth, operational excellence, supplier innovation, and sustainable value creation across North America.


Purpose of the Position:
Lead the development and execution of strategic procurement initiatives across indirect spend categories, enabling business transformation, operational efficiencies, and long-term value delivery. Partner closely with business leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business priorities into procurement strategies, accelerate key transformation programs, optimize supplier partnerships, and deliver measurable outcomes that support the organization's growth agenda.


Key Responsibilities:
Business Partnership & Strategy
  • Serve as the strategic procurement partner to North America business leaders.
  • Align procurement priorities with business growth, transformation, and operational objectives.
  • Identify and deliver value through cost optimization, supplier innovation, risk mitigation, and process improvements.
Strategic Sourcing & Value Delivery
  • Lead a portfolio of strategic sourcing, optimization, and transformation initiatives across indirect spend categories.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that deliver measurable business value, operational efficiencies, and productivity improvements.
  • Drive project execution from strategy development through implementation and benefit realization.
Supplier & Performance Management
  • Build and manage strategic supplier relationships to support innovation, service excellence, and business continuity.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, contract management, and supplier performance governance.
Regional Procurement Leadership
  • Lead procurement initiatives across North America in partnership with Global Category Management teams.
  • Provide market insights, category expertise, and procurement leadership to support business decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Ensure early procurement engagement in key business and transformation initiatives.
Collaboration & Transformation
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to accelerate strategic programs and enterprise transformation efforts.
  • Champion procurement best practices, governance, continuous improvement, and change management across the region.

  • Strong procurement business partnering and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex sourcing initiatives and procurement projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and contract management skills.
  • Excellent project management and execution capabilities.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead through ambiguity.

Your Profile:
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in Procurement, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, Operations, or Business Management.
  • Proven experience supporting business stakeholders as a Procurement Business Partner.
  • Demonstrated success leading regional and cross-functional sourcing initiatives across indirect spend categories.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience driving value through supplier management, sourcing execution, and business transformation initiatives.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, adaptable, and culturally aware with strong leadership capabilities.
