Process Valve & Actuator Service Trainee

What you will do

  • Build and test valves/actuators following IOMs, work orders, and customer specifications.
  • Clean parts using solvents, brushes, and sandblasting equipment.
  • Assist with disassembly, decontamination, repair, assembly, and testing in both shop and field settings.
  • Support in-line valve activities at customer facilities (fittings, packing changes, flange bolting, torque checks).
  • Validate that finished assemblies meet quality and customer requirements.
  • Transport equipment using a stake bed for pickups and deliveries.
  • Help maintain shop tools and equipment for readiness and safety.
  • Progress toward independently and safely servicing control/isolation valves.

Compensation

$23.00–$26.00 hourly (range expected at posting). Final base pay reflects internal equity, region, skills, experience, qualifications, and role needs.

Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license with strong driving record; able to work weekends and overtime as needed.
  • Independent, team-oriented, and organized communicator (email and digital work orders).
  • Competent with impact wrenches, hand/power tools, test equipment, overhead cranes, and forklifts.
  • Strong work ethic and safety mindset.

Preferred qualifications

  • Mechanical and electrical background.
  • Can read schematics and interpret IOMs.
  • Manual machining knowledge/experience.

Schedule, travel, and working conditions

  • Hours: Mon–Fri, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.; overtime as needed.
  • Travel up to 40% (out of town/state).
  • PPE required: hard hat, safety glasses, FR clothing, safety-toed footwear, hearing/respiratory protection, etc.
  • Physical: lift/move up to 50 lbs; walk/stand up to 8 hours; frequent climbing, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping.
  • Environment: potential chemical exposure; work near moving mechanical/mobile equipment; outdoor conditions and temperature variations.
