Direct message the job poster from FPC of SavannahExecutive Recruiter, Sr. Director of Environmental, Health and Safety Senior Process Safety Management (PSM) EngineerThe Senior PSM Engineer plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by overseeing and maintaining the Process Safety Management (PSM) program across the primary plant and nearby sites. This position is responsible for tracking and reporting key metrics related to process safety and ensuring compliance with company policies as well as local, state, and federal regulations. The role works closely with plant leadership and the EHS department to develop, review, and distribute vital PSM information.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct audits and reviews to ensure compliance and the accuracy of all PSM and Risk Management Plan (RMP) documentation.Facilitate Management of Change (MOC) procedures and support Process Hazard Analyses (PHA).Support operations teams in resolving non-compliance issues identified during internal or external audits.Provide guidance to ensure personnel are properly trained in PSM-related processes and compliance requirements.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to recommend and implement changes for safer and more efficient operations.Stay up-to-date on evolving PSM and RMP regulations and best practices.Establish and monitor key process safety performance metrics.Ensure PHA leaders are well-trained and review completed PHAs for quality and thoroughness.Support Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) where applicable.Track, manage, and drive closure of action items from audits, PHAs, and other safety assessments.Participate in and/or review Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs) for completeness and quality.Provide ongoing support to the EHS team on PSM-related issues.Lead or assist in incident investigations and root cause analyses.Liaise with local regulatory agencies on matters related to process safety.Prepare progress updates and technical evaluations for management review.Serve as a technical expert to resolve critical regulatory and safety issues.Ensure full compliance with all 14 elements of OSHA's PSM standard.Occasionally travel to other facilities or attend meetings and conferences.Perform other duties as assigned by management.Required QualificationsMinimum of 5 years of chemical plant experience with strong technical knowledge of plant operations.At least 5 years of hands-on experience managing or supporting a PSM program.In-depth knowledge of OSHA PSM (29 CFR 1910.119), EPA RMP (40 CFR Part 68), and other relevant regulations.Experience conducting root cause (RCA) and incident investigations.Familiarity with risk/consequence modeling tools preferred.Experience managing contractors and external technical resources is a plus.Certified or trained PHA facilitator strongly preferred.Proven leadership skills and ability to influence cross-functional teams.Strong analytical and decision-making abilities, especially in risk-based environments.High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism.Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screening, and background check.EducationBSCE requiredSeniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior levelEmployment type Employment type Full-timeJob function Industries Manufacturing and Chemical ManufacturingReferrals increase your chances of interviewing at FPC of Savannah by 2xInferred from the description for this job Medical insuranceVision insurance401(k)Get notified when a new job is posted.Sign in to set job alerts for “Process Safety Engineer” roles.
