Picture your day in our Louisville, KY facility: you start on the floor, checking coating thickness and adhesion metrics, walking the line with operators, and listening for the subtle signals a process gives before it drifts. By mid-morning, you are in the data—spotting inefficiencies, correlating corrosion-resistance outcomes to process variables, and mapping out cost-reduction experiments. Afternoon brings a quick huddle with production, quality, maintenance, and safety to align on a rapid countermeasure, followed by updating SOPs and coaching the team on a revised work instruction. You end the day seeing the trend line inch in the right direction.
What you will do
- Monitor and optimize manufacturing and coating processes to meet industry standards for corrosion resistance, coating thickness, and adhesion.
- Analyze process data to uncover inefficiencies, quality risks, and savings opportunities; propose and implement corrective actions.
- Troubleshoot complex manufacturing and coating issues on the line and within upstream/downstream steps.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives; standardize best practices across shifts and assets.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, SOPs, and detailed work instructions.
- Collaborate closely with production, quality, maintenance, and safety teams to elevate overall plant performance.
- Provide hands-on technical support and training to production personnel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering (Chemical Engineering preferred).
- 5+ years of experience as a process engineer designing, developing, and optimizing manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve complex manufacturing and coating process challenges.
Preferred
- Solid grounding in chemical and metallurgical principles related to steel processing.
- Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
