Process Engineer - Furnaces / Casting / Metallurgy – Youngstown, Ohio – JOB 26-00145

Salary Range:
$120k - $140k Permanent Position with Benefits

Growing Youngstown, Ohio area Manufacturing Firm seeks an experienced Process Engineer who is the subject matter expert capable of leading continuous improvement processes and managing casting and metallurgical initiatives that support operations, manufacturing, and product development.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree Engineering or Metallurgy 
  • Experience in a management or leadership role
  • Hands-on shop floor experience with Furnaces and Casting
  • Knowledgeable with casting process variables and defect mechanisms.
  • Background in materials, mechanical engineering or metallurgy.
  • Familiar with thermal modeling, melt shop operations, and inlay bonding.
  • Implement plans to improve product quality and consistency.
  • Lead product development initiatives, including new inlay/matrix
  • Experienced using: DOE, 5 Whys, FMEA, and Lean / Six Sigma to drive improvements.
  • Develop and report metrics using: SPC, SQC, and Lean methodologies.
  • Participate in Specific Product Design (SPD) processes to meet customer expectations.
  • Oversee bimetallic casting activities including product recipes, testing, NDE, and subcontracted processes.
  • Optimize casting process variables such as heat-up time, spin rate/G-forces, mold preheat, melt quality, and inlay bonding.
  • Align product and testing priorities with furnace production schedules.
  • Review test results for compliance with specifications.
  • Lead defect reduction initiatives targeting porosity, lumpiness, and cracking.
  • Maximize casting material utilization while maintaining product integrity.
  • Monitor furnace performance and coordinate maintenance and upgrades.
  • Utilize thermal modeling and simulation techniques to optimize casting processes.
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems and procedures.
  • Investigate customer claims and internal CARs; lead root-cause analysis and
