Company Information:

Holroyd Precision Rotos Inc. is a leading manufacturer of compressor rotor screws based in the Spartanburg area. We specialize in the manufacture of high-quality, precision engineered helical components for various industries.

We are seeking an experienced Process Engineer to support and optimize a high precision CNC manufacturing operation producing compressor screw rotors to extremely tight tolerances. This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a technically demanding, multi stage machining environment and has a passion for continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, and mistake proofing processes.

Job Purpose:

As the process development specialist you will play a key role in improving production efficiency, process capability, and right first-time quality. The first major project will be to design and implement a structured process improvement initiative using a recognized model, focusing on mistake proofing principles, embedding quality and control directly into the manufacturing process rather than relying on downstream inspection.

You will work closely with our local and UK engineering team to implement a controlled process so quality and efficiency is achieved through regulated machine set-ups and operation.

Critical to this role is experience of working within an environment of multi-axis CNC machinery (Milling, Turning and Grinding) in metal cutting producing low volume high quality precision components.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and optimize CNC machining processes for helical screw rotor components across multiple metal cutting operations
  • Lead process improvement projects focused on yield, cycle time, scrap reduction, and process stability
  • Design and implement Poka Yoke / mistake proofing solutions to eliminate common sources of error and variation
  • Develop robust process controls to ensure dimensional accuracy and form integrity at every machining stage
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to implement sustainable improvements
  • Review tooling strategies, fixturing, setup methods, and machining parameters to improve consistency and throughput
  • Support root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for quality or process deviations
  • Establish standard work, process documentation, and control plans aligned with Lean principles
  • Drive continuous improvement using methods such as Kaizen, PFMEA, SPC, and capability studies (Cp/Cpk)Implement effective quality systems to support ISO accreditation for the business.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline
  • Proven experience with CNC machines (Okuma, Doosan, Studer), turning, grinding and milling
  • Experience using operating software, WinMax or similar, and FANUC or OSP controls
  • Hands on knowledge of high precision manufacturing and tight tolerance components
  • Experience machining complex geometries such as helical forms, rotors, gears, or similar profiles strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Poka Yoke, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with SPC, PFMEA, process capability analysis, and root cause problem solving
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to drive change on the production floor

First Project Focus Your initial assignment will be to lead a Poka‑Yoke‑based improvement program for a complex helical screw rotor undergoing several CNC machining stages. The objective will be to:

  • Prevent setup, orientation, and process sequencing errors • Ensure each operation is verified before subsequent machining stages • Detect deviations as early as possible in the process • Build in-process quality that protects final form, profile, and tolerances

Why Join Us • Work on technically challenging, high‑precision components used in critical applications • Opportunity to lead meaningful process improvement projects with real production impact • Stable manufacturing environment with a strong focus on quality and engineering excellence • Competitive compensation and benefits package

If you are a Process Engineer who enjoys solving complex manufacturing problems and building quality into every step of the process, we would like to hear from you.
