Process Engineer

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is hiring a Process Engineer to provide technical assistance to the ATY & Needlepunch department manager, supervisors, associates, and internal customers daily at Plant SI in Chickamauga, GA.  The Process Engineer will be responsible for providing production engineering/process control support for the ATY & Needlepunch department. Additionally, this role is responsible for improving process reliability, consistency, and documentation. The Process Engineer will also have responsibility in managing capital projects, driving TPM initiatives and cost improvements, investigating off-quality situations, monitoring and analyzing departmental performance through reports, feedback, and observations.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Act as a liaison between the Department Manager and department associates by providing effective lines of communication within the department.

  • Monitor all departmental safety, quality, production, processes, and procedures.

  • Ensure all departmental SMS procedures and instructions are followed.

  • Give direction and support to department employees with regard to achieving departmental goals.

  • Coordinate and oversee special departmental projects that contribute to the continued improvement in the area of safety, quality, productivity, cost, and efficiency.

  • Establish, maintain and issue process specifications and operating instructions.

  • Assist employees in resolving any job-related problems or concerns.

  • Attend or Conduct periodic departmental meetings.

  • Understanding and use of USF II.

  • Act as department driver for the TPM program.

  • Actively participate in SMS, TPM and S.A.F.E. programs.

  • Constantly search for areas to improve the ATY & Needlepunch Department.

  • Be available to assist all supervisors with problems that may occur, including but not limited to PI Process, TPM, quality, safety, equipment, and training.

  • Perform other non-quality related duties as directed by department/plant management.

  • Take actions to meet site goals for percent-efficiency and percent- waste.

  • Provide support for associates in the ATY & Needlepunch Department.

  • Assist in maintaining all support equipment

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Engineering discipline preferred) or equivalent
