JOB INFORMATION
The Teaching Assistant works out of the Oregon State Penitentiary and manages and facilitates computer-based and paper assessments at the three Salem-area prisons and provides instructional assistance in the GED study labs. Travel between the facilities is required.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Computer Lab and Testing Support
Facilitates student access to GED computer lab involving training on the functions of the computers
Assists faculty and staff on computer use
Mentors students on using GED study lab software
Explains and how to complete automated testing processes and proctors exams
Oversees maintenance and setup of equipment and/or procedures for instructional lab Manually downloads Pearson Vue tests;
uploads and downloads them to/from the student networks; ensures appropriate tests are ready for students
Works closely with Pearson Vue and Oregon Department of Corrections IT departments to troubleshoot any problems
Meets all scheduled testing and computer lab sessions; collaborates with appropriate faculty to ensure adequate coverage
Determines and administers CASAS and Best Plus tests under the direction of program staff

Minimum Qualifications:
This level requires an equivalency of two (2) years of full-time work experience that reflects the knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions listed above.
This is typically achieved through an Associate's Degree or two (2) years of full-time work experience which reflects the knowledge, skills and experience to perform the essential functions listed above.
The college will review relevant education and experience as equivalent in most cases.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Requires going up stairs and carrying supplies.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Chemeketa Community College is considered a qualifying public employer for the purposes of the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program, full-time employees working at the College may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan.
