As Amazon's internal material handling system integrator, we combine precision in technical project managementwith the vision needed to revolutionize our material handling capabilities. We are seeking a talented and motivated Principal Technical Infrastructure Program Manager who will exemplify ownership of their assigned material handling projects, ensuring successful implementation across Amazon's network. Our P-TIPM works closely with WWDE, Operations Engineering, strategic suppliers, and cross-functional teams to deliver complex material handling systems. This role requires both strategic vision and tactical execution to standardize project delivery while maintaining the high standards that complex material handling systems demand. You will drive projects through our comprehensive Project Lifecycle Framework, from initiation through commissioning and handover, while helping establish the processes and playbooks that will enable OMHS to scale across Amazon's network.

  • Customize and execute standardized technical deployment methodologies and integration playbooks to enable implementation of Amazon-spec material handling equipment

  • Execute complex material handling projects through all lifecycle phases while ensuring technical requirements, performance standards, and operational metrics are met

  • Coordinate between specialized engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, controls) and maintain ownership for system integration approaches

  • Drive continuous improvement in technical integration methods, system performance standards, and commissioning procedures

  • Manage technical partnerships with OEMs and 3P engineering firms to ensure optimal system design and integration

  • Leverage technical knowledge management systems and engineering documentation standards for material handling implementations

  • Maintain alignment between engineering teams, operations stakeholders, and external partners on technical requirements and system specifications

  • Proactively identify and mitigate technical risks in system design, integration approach, and operational implementation

  • Define technical standards and best practices for material handling system implementations for specific project(s)

A day in the life

Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
