Job Description

Reporting to the Global Director of Tax Operations, this role will lead key indirect tax transformation initiatives with a primary emphasis on the implementation and optimization of a global indirect tax engine. The position will play a critical role in advancing the company’s indirect tax infrastructure, improving scalability and compliance processes, and supporting operational excellence across a complex multinational environment.

In addition to leading strategic tax technology initiatives, the Global Indirect Tax Senior Associate will oversee indirect tax compliance activities across North America, with APAC, and LATAM responsibilities added over time, and support the continued development of standardized global processes and controls.

This role is ideal for a tax professional who combines strong indirect tax technical expertise with project leadership, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.

Location: US Remote - role must be performed within the United States and is not eligible for sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation, configuration, testing, and ongoing enhancement of a global indirect tax engine in partnership with Finance, IT, external advisors, and business stakeholders
  • Serve as the primary tax lead for indirect tax technology and process transformation initiatives
  • Drive project execution by managing timelines, deliverables, issue resolution, testing coordination, and stakeholder communication
  • Oversee indirect tax compliance activities across North America, including VAT, GST, sales and use tax, and related reporting obligations
  • Develop, document, and enhance scalable indirect tax processes, controls, and governance frameworks to support a growing global organization
  • Partner with ERP, finance systems, and operational teams to ensure accurate tax determination, reporting, and compliance within enterprise systems
  • Monitor global indirect tax legislative developments and evaluate potential impacts to business operations and compliance requirements
  • Support indirect tax audits, inquiries, and controversy matters in coordination with internal and external partners
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders on business initiatives, supply chain changes, and system implementations to assess indirect tax implications
  • Contribute to broader tax department initiatives focused on automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related discipline
  • 7+ years of relevant indirect tax experience within a multinational corporation and/or public accounting environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. sales and use tax, VAT, GST, and other global indirect tax regimes
  • Demonstrated experience leading or supporting indirect tax engine implementations (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE, or similar platforms)
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives in a global environment
  • Experience working with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or comparable enterprise platforms
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across functions and levels
  • Must reside within the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, MST, or other relevant professional certification
  • Experience within life sciences, diagnostics, manufacturing, or technology industries
  • Exposure to finance transformation, tax automation, or process improvement initiatives
  • Experience developing indirect tax controls and governance frameworks

The annual compensation range for this full-time position is $110k to $135k USD. The final base pay offered to the successful candidate will be determined by factors including internal equity, work location, as well as individual qualifications, such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
