Job Description:
THE POSITION: Leading by example, the principal at the intermediate school energetically and actively engages students, teachers, and parents in the learning process. As a member of the District's administrative team, the principal is responsible for instructional oversight, staff supervision and evaluation, communication with key stakeholders, professional development, and budget.
COMPENSATION: Salary range of $189,250-$201,330 with an excellent benefits package.
QUALIFICATIONS:
THE SCHOOL: Reed Intermediate School comprises grades 5 and 6 and has approximately 600 students. Reed is a nurturing intermediate model school committed to academic success and social and emotional learning. We have a highly professional staff and enjoy excellent parent support.
THE DISTRICT: Serving the needs of a wonderfully supportive community, the Newtown Public School District comprises four, K-4 elementary schools, Reed Intermediate School, a 7-8 middle school, and a 9-12 high school. The district has approximately 3,900 students and a mission of "Inspiring All Students to Excel."
THE COMMUNITY: Newtown, CT is a beautiful New England town of approximately 28,000 people, located in Fairfield County, between New York City and Hartford. The town contains over 60 square miles and is composed mainly of residential housing with some light industry. The community is very proud of its rich heritage, which includes a tradition of broad-based civic participation.
