Overview:
Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) is seeking a Principal Network Specialist to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site.
The Principal Network Specialist is responsible for developing, designing, and maintaining the computer network infrastructure (including hardware, software, and installation) that supports the distributed control system (DCS) and simulator, and supports equipment connections to the DCS.

- Performs operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.
- Designs and plans complex network systems.
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
- Provides specific, detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques, and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
- Shares technical expertise with colleagues in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switchers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.
- Evaluates and reports on new network technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
- Performs configuration management and release engineering tasks to ensure new software product operating parameters are documented, comply with standard hardware configurations, and are logistically sustainable.
- Coordinates with the cyber security team to develop and implement security baselines and Group Policy Object (GPO) settings.
- Acts on vulnerability reports to perform timely remediation, applying security patches, configuration adjustments, and other corrective measures in coordination with the cyber security team
- Work is performed without appreciable direction and exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.
- Guides the successful completion of major projects where erroneous decisions typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
- Acts as the organization’s prime technical contact for projects with significant technical matters that need to be communicated to senior external personnel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma, or Associate's degree, or Bachelor's degree with extensive practical and relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science
- Previous experience with Liquid Waste facilities, systems, and requirements
- Familiarity or previous experience maintaining secured ICS systems under DOE/NNSA requirements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills

Minimum Pay:
USD $104,000.00/Yr.
Maximum Pay:
USD $188,000.00/Yr.
