Job Description:
- The Principal Manager, Internal Communications will support the Research organization by establishing foundational internal communications infrastructure that enables consistent, clear, and impactful communication across departments.
- This role combines strategic communications planning with hands-on execution, partnering with senior leaders to develop scalable communication frameworks, governance, tools, and employee engagement initiatives.
- The ideal candidate is an experienced communications professional with a strong background in supporting scientific, research, or technical organizations and driving organizational communication during periods of change and transformation.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement communication frameworks, planning processes, governance models, templates, and best practices.
- Partner with senior leaders to develop communication strategies that enhance employee understanding and engagement.
- Create scalable and repeatable communication approaches while supporting department-specific needs.
- Lead executive communications, including leadership messaging, narratives, town halls, and communications for key organizational initiatives.
- Plan and execute employee-focused programs, leadership forums, organization-wide meetings, and high-visibility events.
- Develop communication plans that support organizational priorities, scientific milestones, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret employee feedback to provide actionable communication recommendations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure communication strategies align with broader organizational priorities.
- Support organizational change and transformation initiatives through effective change communications.
- Introduce modern communication practices and continuously improve communication effectiveness through measurement and data-driven insights.
- Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and stakeholders while managing multiple strategic initiatives.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in internal communications within complex, matrixed organizations.
- Experience supporting research, scientific, or technical organizations within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or related industries.
- Demonstrated expertise in strategic communications, executive communications, and employee engagement.
- Experience designing communication frameworks, governance models, and scalable communications capabilities.
- Proven ability to establish credibility and influence senior leadership.
- Strong project management experience with the ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives simultaneously.
- Experience supporting organizational change, transformation, or business evolution through communications is preferred.
- Consulting or advisory experience supporting senior executives is preferred.
- Experience planning large-scale employee engagement programs, leadership events, or internal conferences is preferred.
- Experience across both internal and external communications is preferred.
