Description

Position Overview:

The Principal IT Business Analyst acts as a liaison between IT and business units across Magellan HealthCare (MHC). Situated in the IT Clinical Solutions tower, they are responsible for working with end users to fully understand the business definitions of data, including but not limited to, where the data is collected or published, the workflows involved in data collection, gathering both technical and business specifications for projects, and the technologies necessary to make it a useful resource for data consumers. The incumbent will assist in assuring that technical systems meet the company's data needs for program planning and agency performance measures. Responsible for translating requirements into specifications involving appropriate technologies.

Essential Functions:

  • Investigation and documentation of various work processes
  • Developing proof of concepts to demonstrate work flows and gain user/stakeholder buy in
  • Customer-facing experience as a Sr. Business Systems Analyst
  • Analyzing data requirements to determine if needed data already exists in clinical systems
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders, developers, analysts, data architects, database administrators and business analysts in business units as well as both local and enterprise technology units to meet business needs of stakeholders
  • Ensuring data quality is maintained by identifying data integration errors and working to improve data quality
  • Determining ways to reuse data structures, interfaces, and APIs to meet other business needs
  • Providing support to integration developers by documenting rules and procedures required to transform, process and load solution data

    Technical Skills Required:

  • Experience in MS Office suite, including Excel
  • Intermediate relational database understanding required
  • Familiarity with SQL preferred
  • Experience creating or authoring technical design documents at a high level (not detailed)
  • Healthcare knowledge/terminology preferred, but not required
  • Excellent critical thinking, analytic, evaluation and problem-solving skills required
  • General database or data investigation skills
  • Ability to prepare clear, accurate and informative designs and documentation
  • Exposure to API requirements, mapping, and development preferred
  • Experience in requirements gathering and turning requirements into specifications is preferred
  • Experience with Agile, scrum, story creation preferred
  • Experience with Jira, Visio or Lucidchart a plus
  • 7+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst / Technical Business Analyst

This position will analyze, evaluate and design/redesign business, IT or operational processes using scientific approaches such as Critical Thinking, Lean Management, ITIL, Design Thinking and structured systems analysis and design. Provide leadership to more junior IT Analysts through all aspects of the software development cycles. Be a hands-on analyst who can define user stories and acceptance criteria, assist with problem solving, root cause analysis, trouble shooting and coaching of junior it analysts on the team and ensure that requirements and acceptance criteria satisfy business needs. Demonstrate a high level of expertise in the `IT Analyst` craft. Help the team work through impediments. Clear impediments and escalate issues when needed. Drive usability and quality of the software developed within the area. Help the team manage changes. Plan, prioritize and deliver the detail behind enhancements. Work on a variety of enterprise applications and problems. Develop relationships with senior stakeholders across partner teams, addressing concerns and removing roadblocks to drive projects forward.

  • Help the team work through impediments.

$93,955

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
