Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking a PrincipalHuman Factors Engineer in our Colorado Springs, CO location.
Apply human performance principles, methodologies, and technologies to the design of human-machine systems and products. Develops and implements research methodologies and statistical analysis plans to test and evaluate developmental prototypes used in new products and processes, user workstations, and computerized human models. Interfaces with design engineers to establish system design, operating, and training requirements and to ensure optimized human-machine interfaces. Identifies and analyzes technological problems or risks, performs theoretical human factors investigations, and develops and implements research and analysis plans. Strong communication, teamwork, and collaboration skills are essential for this role. The HFE engineer will serve as a liaison between software development teams, systems engineering teams, and other cross-functional roles.
Familiarity with human factors requirements compliance to MIL-STD-1472 and MIL-STD-882E, and applicable DoDI, and AFMAN standards for program execution
Support the evaluation of requirements adhering to Human Factors best practices and specified sections of MIL-STD-1472.
Author/support the development of requirements that are compliant with Human Factors best practices
Familiarity with requirements development, system/software architecture, hardware/software design, software code implementation, test, verification and validation
Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of leadership and customers
Work independently
Cross-IPT Collaboration
Demonstrated ability to develop, review, update and approve system safety artifacts and system safety requirements
Expertise with MS Office tool suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
Familiarity with Familiarity with Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, etc)
Familiarity with SharePoint
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of relevant experience; 3 years with a Master's degree. An additional 4 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Active Secret clearance at the time of application
Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in the application of military standards (e.g., MIL-STD-1472H and MIL-STD-882E, and applicable DoDI, and AFMAN standards for program execution)
Educational background in, human factors, or related field from an accredited university, and at least 5 years of related experience with a bachelor's of science; OR at least 3 Years of relevant experience with a master's degree; OR 1 Year with a PhD degree.
Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
This position requires full-time on site at the Colorado Springs facility (standard work schedule is a 9/80)
Preferred Qualification
Experience in fast-paced work environment and ability to work in a team environment
Experience in requirements engineering, use case development, and logical architecture modeling
Experience with Agile development methods, task tracking, issue resolution, and coordination
The ability to clearly and accurately express engineering findings orally and in written technical reports and presentations.
Experience with system engineering processes and tools (DOORS preferred)
Experience in system modeling tools (i.e., CORE, Rhapsody, PTC Integrity Modeler, Cameo)
Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
