Role: Principal Hardware Systems Engineer – FPGA & Defense Electronics
Location: Canonsburg, PA
Type: Full-Time | 100% Onsite

Job Summary
Our client, a leading defense and advanced systems engineering organization, is seeking a Distinguished Member of the Technical Staff to support MK48 Torpedo Systems programs. This position will provide technical leadership for advanced hardware architectures, multidisciplinary engineering integration, and mission-critical defense systems development.

Key Responsibilities

Lead hardware system architecture involving digital, analog, and mechanical systems
Participate in hardware, firmware, and software design trade studies and reviews
Support design analysis, simulation, verification, and documentation
Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams across complex development programs
Conduct root cause analysis and technical risk assessments
Optimize electronic systems for efficiency, performance, and cost
Mentor engineers in board-level design and integration activities

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM discipline
10+ years of engineering experience or Master's plus 8 years
Experience with FPGA, CPLD, DDR4, flash memory, and high-speed digital systems
Strong analog, digital, and power electronics expertise
U.S. Citizenship required
Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Skills

OpenVPX, CAN, PIC-SIG, and 5+ Gbps serial link experience
High-frequency magnetics design
OrCAD PSPICE, LT Spice, Mathcad experience
Technical leadership in defense or naval systems programs
