Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
Lead, mentor, and supervise piping design teams, including designers, engineers, and drafters.
Define project scope for piping design activities and ensure alignment with overall project goals.
Allocate resources, manage team workloads, and ensure timely delivery of design deliverables.
Provide strategic input on piping design methodologies and innovations to improve efficiency and quality
Piping Design Oversight
Oversee the development and review of piping designs, including general arrangement (GA) drawings, isometric drawings, and 3D models.
Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards (e.g., ASME, API, ANSI, ISO), and client-specific requirements.
Perform critical reviews of piping stress analyses, material specifications, and routing plans.
Troubleshoot complex design challenges and propose practical and cost-effective solutions.
Interdisciplinary Coordination
Act as the primary point of contact between the piping discipline and other engineering disciplines (mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, etc.).
Facilitate interdisciplinary design reviews to resolve conflicts and ensure seamless integration of piping systems.
Coordinate with construction, procurement, and commissioning teams to align piping designs with field requirement
Project Planning and Execution
Develop detailed piping design execution plans, schedules, and budgets.
Monitor project progress, track design milestones, and ensure adherence to project timelines.
Identify risks, assess their impact on the project, and implement mitigation measures.
Ensure piping deliverables meet quality standards and are submitted on time.
Client and Stakeholder Engagement
Represent the piping discipline in client meetings, project reviews, and technical discussions.
Understand client requirements and provide expert guidance to ensure satisfaction and alignment with project goals.
Prepare and present technical reports, design updates, and solutions to stakeholders.
Compliance and Quality Assurance
Enforce adherence to industry standards, safety codes, and project specifications.
Perform quality checks on piping designs and ensure deliverables meet high standards of accuracy and completeness.
Review and approve technical documents, including material take-offs (MTOs), pipe support layouts, and equipment layouts.
Advanced Technical Expertise
Lead efforts in developing innovative solutions for complex piping design challenges.
Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in piping design and incorporate them into project execution.
Mentoring and Training
Provide training and guidance to designers to enhance their technical capabilities.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the piping team.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
Promote a strong safety culture within the piping design team.
Ensure that all designs prioritize worker and operational safety and comply with HSE regulations.
Evaluate potential hazards in piping designs and recommend modifications to eliminate risks.
Technical Expertise and Documentation
Prepare detailed technical documentation, including reports, design philosophies, and construction support packages.
Stay updated on new industry trends, technologies, and software tools.
