As a Principal Data Analyst, you will work with a team of top-notch, driven individuals to leverage machine learning and artificial intelligence to improve outcomes firm-wide. This demanding position utilizes the intersection of a solid quantitative background with a complete understanding of the mathematical algorithms behind machine learning and AI techniques, programming prowess, ability to manage and wrangle data, as well as the presence of domain expertise of banking. Your efforts within this role are likely to lead to a generation of models and/or help other, more traditional BI and analytical functions within Citizens to generate business insights.

Primary Responsibilities
- Work with solution development team to define and implement data management, analytics, and user interface.
- Provide guidance to and direct the efforts of Analytics Modelers.
- Parse and manipulate raw, complex data streams to prepare for loading into an analytical E465; delve into complex data from systems to discover hidden relationships and useful information.
- Implement data formulation process, including identification of attributes, exploratory data analysis, data transformation, and temporal data structures.
- Create analytical datasets from large data sources (multi-Terabyte/Hadoop) through the development of highly efficient reusable code structures.
- Perform hands-on text, quantitative, statistical, and operational analysis.
- Apply best available practices for artificial intelligence and machine learning.
- Work with business to review data sources, data inconsistencies, and business logic for initiating data discovery.
Qualifications, Education, Certifications, and/or Other Professional Credentials
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Operations Research, etc.
- Masters Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics
- Experience in machine learning, data mining, deep learning, and statistical methodology; demonstrated experience using these techniques to solve business problems
- Experience in computer science or related discipline, coding in Python, R
- Strong experience building predictive models, preferably for financial application
- Strong experience working with large quantities of data, excellent SQL skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to convey actionable and understandable business intelligence
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D./Doctorate in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Statistics
- Passion for collaboration and working with and inspiring cross-functional teams
- Experience with distributed data/computing tools: Hadoop, Hive, Spark, MySQL, etc.
- The belief that done on time is better than perfect but late
