Position Overview

ISG is seeking a Principal Consultant, Healthcare Transformation Advisory to join our Healthcare Transformation practice. This role will support and lead engagements that are focused on improving payor and provider operations. Including evaluating sourcing opportunities, designing practical operating model improvements, and assessing performance improvement options in provider and payer organizations.

This is a hands-on consulting delivery role for someone who can own workstreams, structure analysis, facilitate client discussions, and turn findings into practical recommendations.

The ideal candidate has experience in healthcare operations, with depth in revenue cycle, utilization management, claims, prior authorization, or healthcare BPO, and has worked in client facing advisory or transformation environments.

Responsibilities

  • Remote position based in the United States
  • Travel may be required up to 50%
  • Lead defined workstreams within healthcare transformation, sourcing advisory, BPO assessment, and operational improvement engagements, ensuring deliverables are tied to measurable client outcomes such as cost reduction, service quality, productivity, or cycle-time improvement
  • Apply healthcare operations knowledge to engagements involving revenue cycle, utilization management, claims operations, prior authorization, payor administration, provider back-office operations, and related clinical or administrative workflows
  • Facilitate client interviews and working sessions with business stakeholders to synthesize input into clear findings, decisions, and next steps
  • Support sourcing advisory activities, including RFP drafting, vendor response analysis, pricing and solution comparisons, service level reviews, SOW inputs, transition planning, and preparation of vendor selection recommendations
  • Build client-ready materials, such as executive presentations, excel-based analyses, business cases, project plans, status updates, decision summaries, and recommendation documents for senior client stakeholders
  • Identify practical opportunities to leverage automation, analytics, workflow tools, and AI-enabled capabilities in healthcare operations such as reducing manual touchpoints, improving prior authorization throughput, accelerating claims review, strengthening denial prevention, or improving vendor performance visibility
  • Contribute to business development by drafting proposal sections, developing pursuit materials, shaping healthcare transformation solutions, and helping maintain reusable practice assets such as assessment tools, delivery templates, and market perspectives
  • Perform other related responsibilities as business and client needs evolve

Required Skills and Experience

  • 8+ years of experience in healthcare operations, consulting, sourcing advisory, revenue cycle management, payor operations, or related business services
  • Experience leading workstreams or major deliverables within client-facing consulting, advisory, sourcing, operational improvement, BPO, or transformation engagements
  • Strong consulting skills, including structured problem solving, stakeholder engagement, communication, deliverable development, and workstream management
  • Ability to analyze information, summarize findings, and present clear recommendations to client stakeholders
  • Experience with RFPs, vendor evaluations, service levels, statements of work, transition planning, or sourcing-related activities
  • Familiarity with AI, automation, data, digital transformation, and technology-enabled operating model improvement
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a consulting firm, advisory services firm, service provider, managed services organization, healthcare provider, or payer organization
  • Experience supporting business development, proposal writing, sales pursuits, solution development, or internal intellectual property development
  • Understanding of healthcare BPO market trends, service provider capabilities, automation, AI, and operating model transformation
  • Experience with financial analysis, business cases, project plans, governance models, or performance metrics
  • Project management experience; PMP or similar certification is a plus

Education

  • Bachelors degree required
  • MBA, MHA, MPH, MS, or other advanced degree preferred
