Job Description

TITLE: Principal QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Educational Level: Master's degree or higher.
  2. Certification/License Required: Valid Georgia Educational Leadership Certificate
  3. Experience: Minimum of 5 years in K-12 education, assistant principal or principal experience preferred.
  4. Additional qualifications as deemed appropriate.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

JOB GOAL: The Principal serves as the instructional and administrative leader, fostering a culture of academic excellence, social-emotional support, and college and career readiness. The Principal ensures that all students receive a high quality education in a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment while providing strong leadership for faculty, staff, students and the broader school community.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Keeps superintendent abreast of pending issues in assigned areas of responsibility Attends school board meetings and presents reports as the superintendent may require Responsible for supervising or overseeing the routine maintenance, repair, and upkeep of their building while school is not in session because of holidays or vacation as well as during the regular school term

School Leadership Instructional Leadership: The leader fosters the success of all students by facilitating the development, communication, implementation, and evaluation of a shared vision of teaching and learning that leads to school improvement School Climate: The leader promotes the success of all students by developing, advocating and sustaining an academically rigorous, positive, and safe school climate for all stakeholders Organizational Leadership Planning and Assessment: The leader effectively gathers, analyzes, and uses a variety of data to inform planning and decision-making consistent with established guidelines, policies and procedures Organizational Management - The leader fosters the success of all students by supporting, managing, and overseeing the school's organization, operation, and use of resources

Human Resources Leadership Human Resources Management: The leader fosters effective human resources management through the selection, induction, support and retention of quality instructional and support personnel Teacher/Staff Evaluation: The leader fairly and consistently evaluates school personnel in accordance with state and district guidelines and provides them with timely and constructive feedback focused on improved student learning

Professionalism and Communication Professionalism: The leader fosters the success of students by demonstrating professional standards and ethics, engaging in continuous professional development, and contributing to the profession Communication and Community Relations: The leader fosters the success of all students by communicating and collaborating effectively with stakeholders Exhibits courtesy and a professional attitude at all times in dealing with the board, school administration, fellow employees, parents, students, and the public Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance Maintains confidentiality and professionalism regarding students and school system affairs Works effectively and cooperatively with administrators, teachers, and staff Performs all duties in a timely and effective manner Effective oral and written communication Maintains a professional appearance as appropriate for job responsibilities Complies with state and local laws and policies, including faculty/staff handbooks Performance will be evaluated annually Performs all other duties as requested by the superintendent

EVALUATION: This job will be evaluated annually by the Superintendent.
