We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Principal Abdominal Organ Procurement Surgeon to join a leading organ procurement and transplant organization in Chicago, Illinois. This physician will play a critical role in the recovery and preservation of abdominal organs for transplantation, working closely with transplant centers, donor hospitals, and multidisciplinary clinical teams to support life-saving transplant procedures.

Key ResponsibilitiesPerform abdominal organ procurement surgeries, including liver, kidney, pancreas, and intestinal recoveries.
Evaluate donor suitability and collaborate with transplant surgeons and procurement teams regarding organ viability.
Provide surgical leadership during organ recovery procedures across multiple donor hospitals.
Ensure adherence to established clinical protocols, regulatory standards, and best practices in organ recovery.
Participate in donor management discussions and contribute to optimizing organ utilization.
Collaborate with transplant centers, operating room staff, and procurement coordinators to facilitate successful recoveries.
Support quality improvement initiatives and clinical process enhancements.
Participate in on-call coverage and travel as needed throughout the service area.
Assist with physician education, training, and mentorship of procurement staff and surgical fellows when applicable.
MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery.
Fellowship training in Transplant Surgery preferred.
Active or eligible for medical licensure in Illinois.
Demonstrated experience in abdominal organ procurement and transplant surgery.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call responsibilities.
