The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Technician has a primary responsibility of maintaining machine cleanliness around the shop. Other responsibilities may include ensuring that preventive maintenance for equipment, machinery, tools, and/or buildings is performed on a routine basis at previously established optimum frequency. They will complete assigned preventive and repetitive maintenance tasks to ensure maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. All tasks will be performed while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED equivalent with a minimum of 1-2 years of production maintenance experience, good written/verbal communication and math skills, and the ability to perform the requirements of the job with or without accommodation. An Associate's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance and/or completion of a craft apprenticeship or technical certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates schedule of preventive maintenance for equipment, machinery, tools, and/or buildings
  • Reviews manufacturers' service manuals, facility's usage schedules, and records of maintenance problems as well as inspection and repair reports to determine optimum frequency of preventive maintenance
  • Studies production and operation schedules and confers with staff to determine when planned maintenance will least interfere with operations of facility
  • Schedules and performs inspections of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or buildings
  • Maintains records of planned and completed maintenance
  • Ensures all safety procedures, practices, and regulations are followed before, during, and after the process to foster a positive safety culture by having a safety-first mindset and approach during execution of activities
  • Ensures equipment preventive maintenance checks are performed as required
  • Ensures that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; post-secondary education and/or a technical trade certificate a plus
  • Minimum 1-2 years of production maintenance experience
  • Able to read and interpret documents and drawings and write repair reports
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work and sense of urgency
  • Ablility to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of customer service and strong communication (both listening and speaking) and interpersonal skills
  • Experience demonstrating successful support of a positive safety culture
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation(s)
  • Basic Microsoft Office knowledge and/or Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) knowledge is preferred
