    Employment Type:

    Full-time (35 hours per week)

    Base Hourly:

    $17.53

    Class/Calendar:

    A13, 9.25 months

    Benefits:

    Performance Pay:

    Available annually

    New Hire Experience:

    1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum

    New Hire Education:

    1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

    Job Summary:

    To provide quality childcare in a nurturing, safe environment utilizing a developmentally appropriate curriculum; and to oversee the daily activities of the childcare center children.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Plan, organize and implement curriculum activities for preschoolers that will support their physical, cognitive, language, social and emotional development
    • Maintain a supportive classroom environment with appropriate materials and learning areas
    • Monitor individual students, classroom environment, playground activities, etc. to reinforce positive student behavior, supervise students and to ensure a safe and positive learning environment
    • Conduct shopping trips for activity and food supplies; organize lunch orders and plan snacks
    • Maintain regular communication with parents
    • Perform record keeping and general clerical functions (i.e. student and financial records, etc.) to support administrator in providing documentation
    • Adhere to Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) regulations
    • Successfully complete twelve hours per year in early childhood training
    • Schedule and oversee preschool instructional aides in the performance of their duties
    • Regular and on-time attendance required
    • Perform other related duties, as assigned, to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit
    • Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools

    Required Qualifications:

    • High School education and course credit related to early childhood education required
    • Current CPR and First Aid Certification
    • Minimum two years experience working with groups of preschool/young children

    • Ability to meet the qualifications required for Child Care Licensing including negative TB results
    • Ability to adhere to and implement Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS) regulations
    • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with preschool children, staff and parents; maintain confidentiality
    • Computer proficiency to include use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc)
    • Ability to operate standard office equipment
    • Ability to organize and prioritize workload

    Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

    • Typically based in a school district office, but may regularly visit preschool sites/classrooms
    • Work is done in offices, classrooms, and sometimes outdoor environments during school events or playground observations
    • Regular collaboration with teachers, aides, classroom staff and administration
    • Regular movement around classrooms, playgrounds, and offices
    • Occasional lifting of instructional materials or small classroom equipment (typically under 25 pounds)
