Principal Responsibilities:

Job Description:

TheEarly Learning Center Directorisresponsible foroverseeing theearly childhood education program.The ELC Director is accountable for overall operational managementin accordance with well-established guidelines, including curriculum development, staff and facilities management,financial management, legal compliance, and long-range planning.

Minimum Qualifications:

Responsibilities:

Administration

  • Recruitment and retention of families in the Early Childhood program
  • Touring of prospective families
  • Collect registrations,maintain rosters andwaiting lists
  • Continually evaluate programs,solicit feedback, review and analyze results
  • Prepare andmaintain all required statistics,records and licensing reports
  • Child files need to be complete and up to date as required by Dept of Ed and Dept of Human Services
  • Purchase,allocate and supervise use of program supplies and equipment
  • Maintain confidentiality of families

Supervision

  • Manage recruitment, hiring,training and supervising all Early Childhood staff
  • Coordinate bi-monthly staff meetings for training and administrative purposes
  • Provide on the job supervision
  • Managepreparing annual written evaluationson entire Early Childhood staff

Budget

  • Monitor budgets within established parameters
  • Budget complianceon a monthly basis
  • Process voucher invoices for payments
  • Organize non-PTO preschool fundraisers

Planning and Development

  • Manage development and implementation of all aspects of Early Childhood programs in areas that include but are not limited to:
  • Parent Classes
  • Support groups
  • Lectures
  • Play groups
  • Holiday Celebrations
  • Enrichment programs/Special Events
  • Pre-natal classes
  • Jewish Family Education
  • Room requisitionsfor all programming
  • Manage development of school calendar
  • Safeguard the health and safety of students
  • Participate in staffing major JCC programs or events outside of department when assigned
  • Identify opportunities for new services that meet the needs of children and families in the Jewish community and developnew programs to fulfill these needs
  • Manage recruiting new PTO and Early Childhood Committee members

Public Relations

  • Organize parent-teacher conferences on an annual basis
  • Be accessible to parents daily
  • Provide opportunities for family involvement in the program
  • Check and respond to messages and emails promptly
  • Collaborate with marketing personnel to produce materials related to the Early Childhood program
  • Communicate policies and programs in a professional manner to families and staff
  • Develop strategies for cooperative ventures with other organizations that serve children and families; both in and outside the Jewish community

Qualifications:

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, Child Development, Human Services, or a related field preferred.
  • Pennsylvania teaching certification in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Special Education preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in an early childhood education setting.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of supervisory, administrative, or program leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience managing a licensedchild care center, preschool, early learning program, or similar educational setting strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Pennsylvania DHS licensing regulations, Department of Education expectations, Keystone STARS,child care compliance, staff files, child files, ratios, supervision, health and safety requirements, and mandated reporting.
  • Experience developing curriculum, supporting classroom quality, coaching teachers, and working with children of varying developmental needs.
  • Experience with budgeting, enrollment management, family communication, staff supervision, and program growth.
  • Experience working in a Jewish communal, nonprofit, camp, school, or community center setting preferred.

  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment: Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping

  • Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, staff, lay leaders, and community partners.
  • Strong understanding of child development and developmentallyappropriate practice.

  • Ability to manage sensitive family and staff matters with professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to analyze enrollment, staffing, budget, and program data to support decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • General Jewish knowledge and awareness, with a willingness to support Jewish values, holidays, traditions, and family education within the preschool program.
  • Commitment to inclusion and to welcoming children and families of all backgrounds, abilities, and identities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and database systems.
  • Experience withchild care management software, billing systems, family communication platforms, and recordkeeping systems preferred.
  • Ability tomaintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Current or ability to obtain all required clearances, background checks, health assessments, mandated reporter training, pediatric CPR/First Aid certification, and other requiredtrainings.
