A day in this role

You step onto the shop floor and head to the toolroom. A transfer die needs attention—production is counting on you. You diagnose the issue, pull the die from the press when necessary, and put your machining skills to work. With careful measurements and print specs in hand, you restore the die to peak performance and support the press setup team so targets stay on track.

Throughout your shift, you’ll:

  • Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and optimize transfer and line dies in and out of the press
  • Operate toolroom machinery and equipment with precision
  • Partner with press setup to drive efficiency and meet posted expectations
  • Follow all safety procedures and site protocols
  • Apply root cause analysis and problem-solving to boost quality and throughput
  • Protect product integrity by holding quality to print specifications
  • Assist as a wastewater handler once proper environmental training is completed
  • Champion Lean practices including 5S and Kaizen; contribute to continuous improvement action plans
  • Pitch in with other duties as assigned

Shifts and premiums

  • Afternoons: 3:00 – 11:00 pm (15% shift premium)
  • Midnights: 11:00 pm – 7:00 am (15% premium)

Note: Overtime may be required to meet customer demand.

What you bring

  • Strong proficiency reading blueprints and GD&T for dies, details, and part prints
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve daily operational issues
  • Comfort using computers and productivity equipment such as control panels
  • Skill interpreting CMM or gaging data and adjusting tooling to maintain customer quality
  • About 5 years of experience in metal stamping, prototype work, tool and die build, or die repair
  • Working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 requirements
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced production environment
  • High school diploma or GED; some college or technical trade education preferred
  • Physical capability for extended standing/sitting, lifting, bending, stooping, and repetitive motions
  • Excellent manual dexterity; able to lift and carry up to 80 lbs frequently
  • Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with continuous noise
  • Availability for overtime as needed
